How come Dan James has fallen out of favour at Man United. He practically single handed saved their season.

If available, I am sure he would be a good addition.

PLAB Because while he's fast as fork, needs to hone his footballing skills and brain under the master tutor, not some glorified PE teacher. Sub and squad player until that happens.

20 Sep 2020 20:43:53
Think they’ve noticed his heart is in Leeds still.

20 Sep 2020 20:47:08
Agree PLAB when I watched scum last year he looked as good as anyone.

20 Sep 2020 21:06:03
I would still think dan would be a great addition to us, Olé ain't half a tactician bubs is, surely dan would jump at the chance now we are in premiership.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 21:27:03
CC Don't think he'd exactly jump. Tough crossing the Pennines in either direction. Not all fans forgive and forget. Ask Alan Smith.

How has he fallen out of favour? He started their one and only game this season? I’m confused.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2020 06:29:17
Man U want to bring Sancho in who plays in the same place as James meaning James may be seen as surplus to requirements.

21 Sep 2020 08:54:53
How has he fallen out of favour as he started yesterday?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2020 09:35:30
DJ has pace but has he got good technique, assists and goals in him? Don't think so.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 18:16:40
I said this last week and was semi joking, now I'm being more realistic, Spurs happy to let Ali go out but not permanently, so obviously a loan, we need an AMid, and he gets to work with the best, Spurs win win IMO.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - nobody else wants him, so why not?}

20 Sep 2020 18:56:42
Richie In order to please George which is the main thing, he would have to terminate with immediate effect his standard goal celebration plus there'd have to be a purchase option for a reasonable price.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 19:28:57
Whats wrong with his celebration Georgie?

IN fact, what is his standard celebration?

Alf Research it yourself. It's almost common knowledge and I'm not going to dignify by explaining it. Good footballer mind.

Ed001 What a move and goal by Mane. World class. I know technically not Leeds related but wow!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is a special player.}

20 Sep 2020 18:42:11
Also Jurgen Klopp criticizing his own bench for applauding the sending off. What a guy!

{Ed001's Note - and Thiago came on and played like a Spanish Kalvin Phillips....}

20 Sep 2020 18:58:48
I could have played in that game only 56.

I think we should sign De Paul and make Pablo assistant to the great man I know bullet not yet landed but it's getting close for pabs especially for prem and we should keep him here for future manager.

Upon reflection of first 3 games, looking at the squad for me Casillas and Douglas should be allowed to leave .

And We need a long term replacement for Hernandez.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Sep 2020 09:21:23
I think Rodrigo is the Hernandez replacement although he looked a little lost at times yesterday. I think he will come good though as he gets to know his teammates and Bielsaball.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 10:21:11
Leeds unwisely will not recuit a quality goalie and are stuck with Casilla who has a mistake in him each game but even he looks a better shot stopper than Meslier.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 14:02:35
Alf No way Rodrigo Pablo replacement. He's back up for Paddy.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 19:19:12
he played there yesterday George - although so did Tyler.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 20:01:01
Alf Due to a last minute injury to Pablo. If he was meant to be Pablo replacement, why are we after De Paul and why aren't we after another striker to back up Paddy?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 06:53:54
George - I really hope Coops is replaced. Ot improved massively. I feared this would be a step too far in terms of skill and he struggled today against a championship side so I don't think he will be able to do it. First game of the season though so maybe he will grow again. Otherwise I think the pairing from the Liverpool game might be our best.

Struick/ Koch if no one else comes in. Struick still learning.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 09:12:45
I agree I am a huge fan of stuijk and think koch will come good (no pun intended) I love Liam as a bloke but never felt comfortable with hm in championship let alone prem.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 09:17:24
Koch I believe will turn out to be a good player for us, he has been unlucky with both penalties and will need to learn quickly. As much as I like Cooper as a person and respect him, he will get found out badly in this league. Cooper won't be able to get away with his normal game to hold or grapple with players in the area. We have already seen the penalty count go against us, VAR will play a massive part. I do think this will also help Bamford, he has the right style of play to suit the premiership, thought he was very intelligent with winning his penalty yesterday.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 10:25:06
Err and if 2 of Koch Cooper and Struijk become injured then what? Having a small squad is unnecessarily risky.

Koch replaced White

But Leeds need to recruit another central defender to replace Berardi who will definitely be out all season.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 14:07:41
Alf Cooper shall be replaced but it's only sporting and classy of the club to give him a chance, even a few chances in the PL. After all he did captain the side to silverware and promotion not even 2 months ago. Like I said before, Struick and Davis not far away displacing him anyway. Provided we stay in the league which I think we will, we shall rectify all first team deficiencies in the summer transfer window next year.

Do I think we have a good premiership squad . NO

Do I think we are going to surprise a lot of teams in the Premiership . NO

I am going to dwell on our weak areas and the shoulda, coulda, woulda signings . NO

What I am going to do is thoroughly enjoy watching a squad of guys, some of whom are journeymen, that have continued where they left off from last season and play to the best of their ability for the full 90+ minutes and do not give up, because they are Leeds and they are playing for each other and for us.

In 50 odd years of following Leeds from afar, I have not seen a squad with this character (if not the ability) since the days of the Don.

Because of this attitude of the squad do you think I am going to spend a season worrying we might be relegated . NO

Leeds until I die, which after 50 years is probably closer than I would like :)

Good post Jungle! That’s how I have felt every time I’ve been at Elland road during Bielsa time. You can see why some players just don’t fit that approach. Very special time to be a Leeds fan, let's enjoy it!

Spainshleeds/ jungle what are you trying to say we are going to go down in joy the moment the team not good enough to stay up.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 09:14:20
agree with sentiment but you left off wilko's boys who punched well above weight to win league and maybe even graysons team who would of been prem bound if not for bates.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 10:28:42
I am not sure how any. Leeds fan can ' enjoy' the concession of conceding 7 goals in 2 games and the feeling that clean sheets will be very hard for Leeds.

a strong Leeds defence and a 1 nil win every game of season I would much more enjoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 12:05:05
Whiteman, As I said this is not a great squad, but with the spirit this team has under Bielsa, although it won't set the world on fire, I believe it is good enough to keep us up and to do it without us having to worry about a relegation battle every week.

Bermo, I am not trying to belittle the achievements of those sides but, personally, I did not get the same feeling of team focus and unity that I have from this squad.

Bazooka, Maybe I am a naive fool, but I am a happy naive fool. I have suffered the pain of having another team in a different football code essentially disappear into oblivion at the stroke of a pen by a bunch of officials every bit as fair and competent as the EFL. So yes, I can enjoy watching them concede 7 goals in 2 games, simply because I am able to still watch them (although I would prefer wins to losses) .

20 Sep 2020 14:14:17
Jungle Know where you're coming from with your view which is healthy to have but we still have a side filled with internationals. I agree we don't have a particularly "good" first team but in my opinion an average one for this league. It's by no means a bad first team. As for the squad, it's thickening with "oftf" which is the right move by the club. What I will say is we're much less without Bielsa and sadly Ben White.

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 17:38:25
I know mate didn't think you was belittling wilko or the other squads

that is the beauty of football I think the most together squad was wilkos as they over achieved and also O'drearys before he released that soppy book

before my time but I am not sure if dons squad was that together they would fight to the death but often choked. but firstly that is the beatuy of football that people see different things have a different affect for certain eras, squads and players, and I am probably being bit harsh on dons team as before my time. but now looking back I always see them as a great team that massively underachieved as wilkos was decent team that massively over achieved.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 17:39:14
also I agree with BV we know defence will cost us. I don't mind 4-3 when we win but if we lost to teams like West Ham due to poor defence I will not enjoy that at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 18:33:59
Bazooka, not sure if you go to the games or watch on the tele, but I love being at Elland road under Bielsa. Yes we concede goals, I was at Cardiff and Millwall, but we play exciting football and you see great games. I much prefer what we’ve done with Bielsa than draws or 1-0 wins every week. And Whiteman we can play like that and stay in the premiership, because the Bielsa style and the never say die attitude will win enough games!

I can understand posters like Bermo who believed that Bielsa was wrong for the club and thought he would be sacked before Christmas, but not posters who like Bielsa but then think he should play with a bigger squad, be more defensive etc . It ain’t going to happen, if you want that type of football, sack Bielsa and get a different manager. He ain’t going to change!

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 19:03:02
Spanish

Bielsa has many good points but having a small squad in the premier league is something I wish he would reconsider.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 21:58:26
good point spanish

I am not one for style. could not care less. I like the win, the whole win and nothing but the win. I don't think we on the whole played amazing football under wilko but I loved it. I didn't think bubs was right for championship and love that he proved me wrong, if you are going to go up 10 points clear and do it in style that is a wonderful bonus

now in prem it horrifies me and I can see us getting record goals against and that could cost us top flight football. if that is the case then style needs to change or bubs needs to go. but that said he proved me wrong once before and I have a feeling he might prove me wrong again.

I too worry about the defence. I agree Koch will mature and do well, but is he tall enough. Out jumped by Van Dijk last week and Mitrovic this week.
Meanwhile at the other end I thought Rodrigo was a bit anonymous, I hope he finds his feet soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 01:23:45
Wow 7 scored and 7 conceded, it's a ride.
Great to have the 3 points and on to the next one.
Positives today, thought bamford, costa and klich very good, klich has started well and never stops running.
Hard to tell on rodders, time will tell but I feel we need another striker in, don't think he will score 20+, maybe try for origi as he be surplus.
Think Meslier has a fantastic passing ability and I like how we mixing it up, sometimes play out through Cb but then when teams press, he can hit the wing.
Felt he a bit weak on shot stopping and needs to either come for mitrovic goal or stay on his line.
Just over 2 weeks of window, maybe man city Cb needed as gividiol isn't looking likely.
I would prefer Benrahma over James and still need creative MF.
Klich and KP great at breaking up play and need player to then create, never replaced saiz and Pablo showing his years and best as impact sub.

Gelhardt will be involved in the first team squad pretty quickly I think! Good to have a tricky lad like that on the bench to throw on for 15/ 20 mins and go mad! He could be the buy of the season and might mean we don’t need another out and out striker.

What do you expect from Stuart Attwell monitoring VAR, the guy doesn't like leeds. Think he's a Man Utd fan. As a red he has led a charmed life being fast tracked to the premiership list of referees, ghost goal fame. I Remember him, his dad and brother were all local sunday league referees .

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2020 10:46:00
Increasingly annoyed at the incompetence of the officials using VAR

Bryan of Fulham clearly dived first and was hitting the turf well before Kock made very minimal contact at the very end.

Attwell with his VAR machine should have overturned that incorrect penalty decision and Bryan should have been sent off for cheating/ diving .

Incompetent or more sinister biased Attwell should be made explain why he didn't overturn it!
