If Phillips goes Foreshaw can do the job if he stays healthy. If Roofe goes Bamford can do his job if he can stay healthy. If Jansson leaves? Lots of potential problems. Can Foreshaw and Bamford stay fit and can the Swede be replaced at a good price. Or can Beradi be trusted again because he had a great start to last season.
In Bielsa I trust.

I don’t think for one minute Bamford can do Roofe’s job. He had plenty of time when Roofe was injured and proved nothing really. He is a decent player, but if Roofe left, we definitely need a proven goal scorer.
Forshaw can do the job, but as you say, can he stay fit?
Berardi should get a one way ticket home, not good enough and a massive liability.

2.) 09 Jun 2019 10:50:17
With the utmost respect you are mistaken on both counts!

3.) 09 Jun 2019 13:48:54
How’s that? On occasion last season Foreshaw was played instead of Phillips and a fully fit Bamford has proven in past he can get 20 plus goals.

4.) 09 Jun 2019 16:18:16
Just putting it out there and I know this will upset a lot of people but Pontus can be a bit of a liability at times. He can be a bit reckless and his body language when we lose speaks volumes. doesn't look a team player, but when we win it's the complete reverse. I do rate the guy, don't get me wrong but if we got a good price, he is replaceable. Someone with experience like Huth would do the job for me.

Mad Mick (DTP UTW)

5.) 09 Jun 2019 21:11:16
Welcome back from the nuthouse Mick. You must have been there if you believe Huth is the answer!
Good to see your back though.

6.) 09 Jun 2019 22:02:17
Good to have you back MM 👍.

7.) 09 Jun 2019 22:46:31
Bamford hasn't scored 20 goals in 3 years.

Do the bookies know something we don't? The odds on Leeds to win the league are tumbling week by week. In to 4/1 from 7s with lots of firms. I hear one firm nearly 90% of bets are on Leeds. Is it because we came third last season, Bielsa being manager or even a takeover in the pipeline?
Hopefully all three!

CORKWHITEI

1.) 18 Jun 2019 23:51:14
Takeover hopefully Cork!

2.) 19 Jun 2019 01:09:28
Your post cheered me up Corky. The bookies are rarely wrong. Superb.

3.) 19 Jun 2019 05:10:23
Cork More likely the 4th reason you're missing. An effective transfer window this summer. We may sell Clarke and others but I believe the bookies realize we're going to use the funds very wisely. Adding say Costa, Kent, Lowe, Barbet and Travers will make us some force to be reckoned with. Even I am becoming optimistic. Wish we could get Wilson too but we'd have to sell KP to make that happen.

16 Jun 2019 19:55:09
So who is to blame? Rad, Bielsa or the players? Is it because Rad didn't invest in January even though he was paying 11 mill for James? Bielsa because he likes a small squad and only wanted James brought in? Or did the players mess it up because they bottled it?

Lots of questions but no concrete answers to be fair. Injuries to Roofe and Bamford long term were killer blows in my book especially because they were our only two frontline strikers. It's a crying shame because imo we were the best side on any given day. Roll on next season because we are going to smash it!

CORKWHITEI

1.) 16 Jun 2019 21:25:34
Everyone was to blame! Share the responsibility, try to learn from it and move on . Radz needs to learn, Bielsa understand the league more and be open to change and the players need to step up and take responsibility for taking the chances and closing down key games.

2.) 16 Jun 2019 22:30:46
Really don’t think they bottled it Corky. Just that, as you say, critical injuries, at bad times cost us, and we ran out of steam. This year!

3.) 17 Jun 2019 00:15:21
That's the spirit Cork. No one person is wholly responsible. Collective responsibility for numerous Cock ups of varying degrees. As you say, let's focus on taking it to them next season. MOT.

4.) 17 Jun 2019 13:58:39
Never understood why teams wait till deadline day to do a deal, if in early to mid Jan MB had identified James then go and get him, if it falls through then there's time to go for someone else.

5.) 17 Jun 2019 16:34:55
I always find in such situations that the blame is not easily apportioned. There are a few who should hold there hands up, including the three you have named.

6.) 17 Jun 2019 16:59:40
Do not think it is about laying blame but learning from it. Strikers for me were poor. Bamford showed no passion or aggression and he needs to bring that to the table next season. Roofe was adequate and worked well within the team but i reckon the way we were playing Grot would have been in double figures and a proper front man in the 20+ bracket. Still not convinced Roofes best role is lone striker. Defence at times were all over the place. Set pieces and runners from wide areas caused us problems. Not enough cover at back for injuries having to play wingers as full backs, full backs and midfielders as center backs that always causes problems. I would have liked to have kept Coyle, Pearce and Nessie at home as they were needed.
Our style of play had everyone on the backfoot but as the season wore on the teams set up to thwart us but we did not change style to counter them, although if we had taken all our chances it would not have mattered. Think we need to learn how to close a game down, Derby one a prime example. Nice to see attacking exciting football but sometimes you need Mr Ugly to get on the ball and rattle some bones, especially in important games.

7.) 18 Jun 2019 17:27:25
Richie that the way Radz dose his work then if it don’t go through he blames the players or other chairman for pulling out of the deal, Great really make him look good.

8.) 18 Jun 2019 17:29:05
Bright agreed, couldn’t have put it better.

9.) 18 Jun 2019 23:57:20
I think the problem is Radz, doesn't seem to want to spend a penny if he can avoid it. For me, that's why we missed out on James in January.

Looks like Vydra is leaving burnley.
After last season should we be interested again? Good player who can also play the numer10 role.

CORKWHITEI

1.) 09 Jun 2019 15:21:05
Spooky, I just wrote a very similar post

I do think he would improve us.

2.) 09 Jun 2019 22:56:49
Any player who shows any sign of not wanting to wear the shirt, should in my view. not be entertained.

3.) 10 Jun 2019 09:44:01
Feath

How do you make out he showed any sign of not wanting to wear the white shirt?

As far as I can see, he was put up for sale and some, not all, journalists linked him with Leeds. Along with many more clubs I might add

I have never read anywhere that we put a bid in for him and he knocked us back

Even if that was the case, he was obviously offered a move to Premier league club. I can't fault him for his desire to better himself. In fact, I would live a team of 11 players who wanted to better themselves. The net effect would be a huge positive for Leeds

And I go so far as to say, I would have no problem with us buying or loaning players from Chelsea or Man Utd or Millwall or any other perceived rival team. I just want my team to do well and if such players gave my team success then it's a means to an end. I would probably still have my favourite from more local stock but the team matters most.

Watching Spurs last night was very much like watching Leeds in a lot of games this season.

Last three or maybe four managers have made Cooper captain. He was immense this season. Nuff said.

CORKWHITEI

1.) 20 May 2019 23:55:40
Cork Was he sufficiently immense on training pitch to tell Kiko stay where you are because he got the speed to get back and tackle? It's more Kiko fault and Bielsa fault than Cooper but as captain he is partly responsible for his goalkeeper stupidity. Cooper has no leadership qualities. That's the problem.

2.) 21 May 2019 08:12:24
I felt that leadership on the pitch was lacking in the defeat to Derby. As a team we lost our heads and needed a calming influence from the Captain.

3.) 21 May 2019 09:49:41
Cork, Cooper has done a good job both as captain and as defender, but sometimes you need to move on and turn a new page. I think Bielsa 2 needs to be different and part of that difference could be new leadership on the pitch. I think he is a decent guy and will probably feel some of that blame himself. Agree with Georgie and Notts.

4.) 21 May 2019 10:41:04
coops arguably at fault for both sheff utd goals and he was at fault for the derby goal

lets get this straight. Mb likes a certain style of football similar to many city and liverpool who both have goal keepers who play like centre backs (edison is prime example) .

We brought in Cassia and he plays like a he thinks he is a defensive mid but still Mb picks him. it must be what he wants

all debry game our keeper was well out of his box, it must be game plan

with that in mind coops was at fault, he took the ball off of the keeper. I am not saying i agree with this style i am saying that was the managers game plan. Maybe the keeper didn't give a big shout but as a keeper if i come for the ball and the defender takes it off me i blame him in the dressing room

i am sure mb blames cooper who at the end of the day is great for the bench and back up but is not good enough to get us promoted. This is why pontus is being linked with prem and not cooper.

5.) 21 May 2019 12:00:48
He has had a great season, and is quite clearly well respected by the coaches and squad alike. I personally like a vocal “nutjob “ of a captain a la Stuart Pearce, which means that Pontus is the man for me. Unless Coops is replaced or sold though, I think he will be Captain again next season.

6.) 21 May 2019 13:07:24
Oracle, I thought KP was at fault for the Sheff Utd goal (they only scored one) 🤣.

7.) 21 May 2019 14:52:11
yeah got cofused with score

Kp was at fault he let his man waltz past him and put pressure on defense. this said cooper also should of dealt with it a lot better

bit like beradi first card against derby Kp's fault the man waltz past him putting pressure on beradi but beradi could of dealt with it better

answer for me is use all three spearingly if you want promotion.

8.) 21 May 2019 17:02:13
Yes, they may do some damage if you used them spearingly. I suggest that they wear pointy hats whilst they do so :)

Bang on Notts. He’s a good player and handy because he can play a few roles in midfield but he can’t seem to stay healthy. Personally I’d sell due to his injury problems.

Just like to add a point. What centre back should we have signed. Any ideas? Because January is a tough time to bring players in.

For a man that used to and I believe still does laud Cellino you do have me scratching my head. I’m an optimist fair enough but I amazed you are so negative towards our chairman and now manager it seems. Just enjoy imo all the good stuff happening at ER! MOT.

Elphick and Coyle not good enough George. Sell Jansson and replace him with an inferior player not a good idea.
