Phil Hay basically saying tonight Casilla is staying, no new centre back or striker unless Roofe goes . What a joke!

RedhotCurrie

1.) 23 Jul 2019 01:24:20
Totally agree RHC. Everywhere you look on the net the majority of fans are crying out for 3 signings mainly CH, CF and a midfielder.
Surely the top brass at Leeds can see it too so what's going on? Takeover? Young guns good enough?
Surely something. Only time will tell.

2.) 23 Jul 2019 07:04:32
Radz maybe trying to do it on the cheap and never never again. Only two weeks of the window to go, so there will have to be a major shift in policy if we are going to make any permanent signings.

3.) 23 Jul 2019 07:30:26
It's no surprise, white was brought in to replace pontus. We got players in quickly and think it has always been the case we are now only going to replace people like Roofe or Phillips should they leave. Bielsa likes his small squad, it's a dangerous game given the fast pace we play and amount of injuries we seem to pick up. We can keep getting linked to various players but in truth we not going to buy. Yes we all can see we need strengthening but don't count on it happening. In my opinion we will struggle to finish higher than last season and I don't think Bielsa will stay the full season, but hope iam wrong.

4.) 23 Jul 2019 14:07:30
I can't see any more signings either. Like Mezzer says I had a sneaking suspicion when Pontus went that White was his replacement. after 16 games in the league below it is a massive, massive gamble although Bielsa really likes White by all accounts.

I think Bielsa will stay if we are doing well but if we are in the middle or bottom half of the table around Christmas I can certainly see him getting bored and leaving.

5.) 23 Jul 2019 14:12:37
RHC I don't believe Phil Hay on this occasion. Can see us making 2 more signings.

6.) 23 Jul 2019 14:37:57
Hope your right bro!

17 Jul 2019 23:37:15
So quote unquote 90% of our recruitment is done . This to me translates to if we can get in a quality CB for peanuts we might go for it but Bielsa is quite happy with the squad anyway, so we probably won't bother . So we will go into supposedly our best go at promotion in over a decade relying on a midget rookie in White at CB ( as Cooper can't cut it ) and a rookie at striker in Edmondson once Roofe goes and MB finally realises Bamford is a complete and utter waste of space .

People pointing the finger at Radz, by definition need to start pointing the finger at Bielsa as he supposedly set his terms for staying on . A lovely man and great football coach but a man with a track record of being a brides maid never the bride . A man too set in his ways to see after a season in the Championship what's required to get out . If he can't see what most fans can see then I'm sorry but I will not be satisfied with another season of wonderful but ultimately losing football .
#The buck stops with BIELSA.

RedhotCurrie

1.) 18 Jul 2019 02:26:24
Too true Mr Currie. I cannot believe how he can not see the blinding obvious, we have no class or depth in this positioned. Two new CB's are needed, but I suppose one at the very least. We are now weaker in defense than last season . God help this club, even a child could see this.

2.) 18 Jul 2019 10:49:17
RHC Good post. Yet again, thoughts mirror my own but don't believe we're done yet in the window.

Calimick We are weaker in defence but only by a touch in George opinion. Can all be different if we sign the right player in the time left.

3.) 18 Jul 2019 11:48:47
George - I only hope you're right, as an experienced and quality CB is so obviously needed unless Coops can step up another level on last year and also cuts out his brain-freeze moments, which seems rather unlikely. And even if that were to happen we should have experienced cover for injury and suspension.

12 Jul 2019 13:02:23
Talk of a Spurs bid for KP . I'd be gutted personally as whatever the price you don't get promoted by selling your better players . Silver lining Berm's credibility completely shot to tiny pieces!

RedhotCurrie

1.) 12 Jul 2019 13:37:59
Have always said KP is a very good player but i guess we will sell him eventually and maybe better to get a good price for him now. He has done well at DM but do not think he will improve in that role and not likely to get further upfield here which is where i believe he will play his best football and improve into a top class player.

2.) 12 Jul 2019 14:12:05
RHC "Silver" lining? Try vibranium embossed in gold, platinum and diamonds. Tattoo on the rear I mean icing on the cake would be an England cap.

3.) 12 Jul 2019 14:53:37
Lol. Funny George! 😂👍🏻.

4.) 12 Jul 2019 18:19:00
Spurs can pay 20 million for him and loan him back for the season!

28 Jun 2019 21:14:27
Social media buzzing with Kalvin to Villa rumours and bookies odds slashed to 1-5 on they are his next club . If this happens I will take flying lessons myself to pilot a plane over ER with a Radz out banner .

RedhotCurrie

1.) 28 Jun 2019 21:40:30
Have to agree RHC. As he became a bit off our rock
Last season. Unless we get £30m. Then ok. 🤣🤣⚽️⚽️👍.

2.) 28 Jun 2019 21:41:09
And our first signing could be an 18 year old from Carlisle! I have to say if Philips goes as well as Clarke, the powers that be had better have some quality signings lined up or a lot of the fanbase will be fuming.

3.) 28 Jun 2019 22:19:03
For once, I’m with you RHC, and I’ll gladly wing walk that plane before a para onto the pitch at ER. Don’t see it happening tho. The sale, I mean.

4.) 29 Jun 2019 00:59:04
Really hope your right Brighty!

5.) 29 Jun 2019 06:57:46
More media talk of a £25m deal despite KP wanting to stay . Now some might argue that’s a good price and it probably is . But this is so very wrong on a number of levels -
1. You don’t generally become successful by selling your best players . 2 . With its poor track record in the recruitment department , there is little likelihood that replacements will be as good . 3 . Why the need to sell JC with £25 m incoming?

6.) 29 Jun 2019 07:23:09
I bet Radz is rubbing his hands, just waiting for the offer from Villa to increase a bit.

7.) 29 Jun 2019 08:44:35
And berms sits quietly in the corner with his fingers crossed lol.

8.) 29 Jun 2019 08:46:18
14 million plus offer from Villa supposedly rejected by Leeds. Depends how much Villa are prepared to pay. That’s part of the problem with coming out with a value on a player like 30 million, people always think that means you are prepared to sell. I think KP is one of Bielsas non negotiables, JC wasn’t, and I think Foreshaw is another that he would let go. My gut says KP wants to stay more than JC.

9.) 29 Jun 2019 09:00:46
I’ve said it before. I’ve watched Kal since he was 10. He won’t want to leave and I will be gutted if he is forced to go. All he’s ever wanted to do is play for Leeds.

10.) 29 Jun 2019 09:25:38
Spanish think we can agree that KP is the litmus test on Radz’ ownership?

11.) 29 Jun 2019 10:58:24
RHC, the key will be how high the offer goes. We have supposedly said 30 million, if it gets close to that.! There are people on here who would sell for around that figure or less, so why not Radz? Bermo would sell now at 14, I imagine, and throw in a free lifetime pass to all his plays and pantos!

At the moment I don’t think Radz woulld do something that what would make Bielsa walk. But if they offered 30 million and Bielsa know a replacement that would work, who knows! I agree with Brighty, KP wants to take Leeds to the premiership and I think he appreciates how he has grown with Bielsa. It’s another part of the one year plan, if we don’t go up this year and Bielsa goes and he still has the chance to go to a premier side, it might be a different story!

12.) 29 Jun 2019 11:34:05
Bielsa preferred Forshaw to KP until he was injured didn't he.
Take 20 mill if offered and play Shack there anyway. Will be twice as good as KP in that role!

13.) 29 Jun 2019 12:53:53
Not correct Canada . Forshaw injured beginning season and KP first choice .

14.) 29 Jun 2019 18:08:44
KP out, Iturraspe in?

15.) 29 Jun 2019 19:08:04
I believe Forshaw was always in the main role until injured pre-season.
Either way KP is good but not great. Too slow and poor at timing tackles. Won't make it in PL. 20 million would be well worth taking.

28 Jun 2019 06:52:05
Wow this one should really test the " in Bielsa we blindly trust " brigade . Talk of us blowing most of the JC money on a permanent deal for Harrison . Utter utter madness .

RedhotCurrie

1.) 28 Jun 2019 08:40:31
Sounds unlikely - where have you seen anything to suggest that. All reports to date say it will be another loan deal - perhaps with the option to buy next summer.

2.) 28 Jun 2019 10:33:27
I've just read a report that we are signing him for £7m
I hope it is a permenant deal but think £5m is more realistic.

3.) 28 Jun 2019 10:48:31
Daily Star says perm for £7m . Hopefully wide of the mark! I understand a loan on sensible terms but not perm .

4.) 28 Jun 2019 10:59:03
Man City want £20 million so it’s probably lazy journalism.

5.) 28 Jun 2019 12:43:24
In Bielsa we trust, with eyes wide open!

6.) 28 Jun 2019 14:15:11
IBWBT!

7.) 28 Jun 2019 14:55:34
The daily star you say RHC well it must be true then lol.

8.) 28 Jun 2019 17:09:41
RHC

I hope you are wrong about Harrison at £7m on a permanent deal. I am with you on the idea that Harrison isn't £7m if Clarke is a benchmark of £10m

I wouldn't be averse to signing him on a loan-to-buy for £7m as we would only have to shell out the fee if he did really well and/ or we got promoted. In which case he would be an acceptable squad player in the Premier League

I have the same feeling about Costa. £12m on a loan-to-buy would mean we shell out the money if he shows himself to be a world beater and/ or we get promoted

I would even try the same deal with Newcastle for Gayle. Loan-to-buy at £20m if we have to. We only have to actually pay these fees if we make it to the Promised Land. And if we do then the above transfer fees are acceptably sized for that level

Even if it took the whole of Jack Clarke's transfer fee to broker the 3 deals I personally say it's worth it. It shows intent. It shows we have added MORE quality to an already very good squad. And it gives our very good U23s another year yo improve. If Harrison, Costa and Gayle had to be sent back at the end of season, possibly Stevens, Bogusz and Edmondson would be ready to step up.

9.) 28 Jun 2019 17:56:56
Not happening. Simple.

10.) 28 Jun 2019 18:05:43
Axe the three on loan to buys would be great . I’m a firm believer that if you borrow a player you must try to have an option to buy included otherwise it’s so short termist .

11.) 28 Jun 2019 18:15:27
Bright, your more than probably right, but I just want us bringing in better than what we already have.

Quality players not only upgrade the quality of the 1st XI, but they also work as benchmarks for our permanent guys to aspire to. Our youngsters see how hard you have to work to get to their level. In some cases those quality players become mentors to the younger players. Show them how to be a 'professional' footballer

I remember how Strachan up'd the work ethics of the guys already at Elland Road.

12.) 28 Jun 2019 20:24:18
RHC - you lost me at Daily Star - that bastion of quality football journalism.

13.) 28 Jun 2019 20:54:15
Totally agree Axe!

If we get automatic promotion it will be despite Bam Bam leading the line . His stats so far this season read : 25 shots, 11 on target ( a pathetic 44% with most of those straight at the keeper ) and 4 goals . That just shows how many chances the team are producing for him and how many he's screwing up . Compare that to the other leading strikers in the division ( Baston and Taylor ) who are scoring more goals from half the chances . We were very lucky to escape with the three points on Saturday . Could easily have been a goal or two down we're it not for Barnsley's finishing, before Costa and Eddie came on . Better teams would have punished us for not taking our chances .

RedhotCurrie

1.) 17 Sep 2019 08:44:18
We played on Sunday.

2.) 17 Sep 2019 10:01:49
Yep, we would have had to be very lucky to have got any points on Saturday!

3.) 17 Sep 2019 10:48:46
🤦‍♂️😂.

4.) 17 Sep 2019 11:29:14
RHC Paddy is a different type of centre forward. Goals and shot accuracy not his strength. Dragging defenders away, making runs are. Time for George's 4-4-2 at home anyhow. With Eddie, we could score 4 or 5 goals in home matches.

5.) 17 Sep 2019 11:55:36
Yes George. Been saying myself about 4-4-2.
Just so opposing teams actually aren't ready for our usual formation and I do believe we will score more.

6.) 17 Sep 2019 12:52:11
Batty Cork and Spaniard will attest to my clamouring for 4-4-2 for the longest. Championship defenders will not be able to cope with Paddy and Eddie.

7.) 17 Sep 2019 13:20:13
I’m beginning to agree with you, certainly for home games, George. It could be just what’s needed to turn ER into a fortress again, and give opposing managers a shock.

8.) 17 Sep 2019 13:57:22
Absofrickingexactly Bright. Opposing teams and managers would get a shock. Want to knock the stuffing out of teams, make them feel overrun and depressed.

02 Sep 2019 09:44:45
Enough already . After the international break, Costa must start especially at home . Don't think we need Klich and Forshaw in the home games . Play Pablo through the centre . Away from home play the two midfielders and stay solid .

RedhotCurrie

1.) 02 Sep 2019 11:42:22
Totally agree with you there, RHC. We need to be putting teams to the sword at home!

2.) 02 Sep 2019 13:39:04
What about Nketia, Red?

3.) 02 Sep 2019 13:36:52
RHC It's simply amazing our likeness of mind. Away from home no issue. Our formation and style of play too hot to handle at Championship level. I expect many away wins! However, at home I implore the Argentine nutcase to adopt 4-4-2 in the manner by lost brother describes. No Forshaw or Harrison. Eddie and Costa instead. With Paddy dragging away defenders, and Costa and Pablo pulling strings Eddie will fill his boots. Klich and/ or Bogusz will fair well too. Teams come to frustrate and stifle us at home. Lost count of all the "blocked shots" Swans managed. 4-4-2 plays a more traditional game where class and pace usually tell. We're paying £15m for him (Costa) so might as well play him from start and Eddie really knows what he's doing. Take George advice El Loco. It's free of charge unless Radz wants to reward me. 4-4-2 at home.

4.) 02 Sep 2019 15:08:27
For me Costa must start . I love Eddie but don’t feel he is ready to bare the burden of the lone striker role from the start . So if he’s going to start it will have to be as a front pair with Bam as Georgie describes .

5.) 02 Sep 2019 18:17:44
Agree guys start Costa but also time to play Eddie, this guy is the only young but has scored in Europe and premiership. See him in the same mould as Dwight Gayle and with the amount of chances we make he will score more than Bamford!

6.) 03 Sep 2019 09:01:59
you know what mezzer i agree but would go further i think eddie is even better than gayle and will go on to be a top champions league forward. hopefully for us.

31 Aug 2019 09:50:27
Eddie fast becoming my favourite player . Shame really as he's not ours and probably never will be even if we get promoted. Latest quote from him that he will learn off Bamford and Bamford from him . Nice cocky way about him! If Bam Bam can learn from Eddie's positional sense in the box and finishing then happy days . But these things are not learnt they are in you or not .

RedhotCurrie

1.) 31 Aug 2019 11:03:28
Nice thoughts rhc. Either way it could be win win and with wrighty in the background I feel he will add his wise words on good partnerships. Think back to his days with Chrystal palace. He and mark bright combination got them promotion. Possible similarities?

2.) 31 Aug 2019 12:52:52
Or the SAS for Blackburn!

30 Aug 2019 14:00:10
Couple of interesting snippets . Eddie called up for England 21's . I said the other day he will play for the full team within a year or two . On a more sour note Michael Bridges quoted as saying Coops told him he felt all the players were burnt out by Xmas last season due to Bielsa ball . Here's hoping we don't do a Devon Lock this year!

RedhotCurrie

1.) 30 Aug 2019 14:15:51
Eddie is qaulity I can't believe costa didn't also get a england call up.

I believe a lot of players have said to a lot of sources that they suffered from burn out and our results and fall from grace would support that. many say you can't question the manager but we can, many said last year our squad was too small for such a brutal league. MB way is great and gets the best out of players but the filp side is burn out. I believe it has happened to other teams he has managed

My main criticim of Mb has been for all his good his stubborness costs us last year and i am not sure he will ever learn or change his ways sadly. if we go up it will have a slice of luck that our two cb must stay fit. if white gets injured we are bang in trouble

still back to positives eddie in under 21's is great the lad is class.

2.) 30 Aug 2019 14:24:03
The boys look much fresher this year though, and we're not going at 100mph all game anymore. Bielsa has clearly learnt his lessons at least partly.

My question is, why are the players telling this to Michael Bridges of all people? It smells of nonsense. Especially because all the players seem to suggest that Bielsa burnout isn't real, it's more just lack of clinical finishing.

3.) 30 Aug 2019 14:54:44
Bermo, have a think why Costa didn't get an England call up? 🤔.

4.) 30 Aug 2019 14:55:24
I like bridges.

5.) 30 Aug 2019 15:10:31
MBTN think it has come from a few sources not just bridges, pretty sure it came from someone during the documentary that i can't bring myself to watch. I don't see why they shoudln't mention it they are only talking about a season retrospectivly and probably learning from it moving forward

and Danum the reason costa didn't get an england call up is because they are biased against leeds players. its the same reason Yebhoa didn't get an england call up

in all seriousness Lukic should of he won the league for two different teams (only keeper to do so) how he didn't get a lot of cpas between 89-93 is beyound me. far better than shilton who was 112, chirs wood who was usless and ian walker. yes even ian walker got england caps. lukic should of got more england call ups and a knight hood.

6.) 30 Aug 2019 18:09:37
Of course they look fresh they are only five games in.

7.) 30 Aug 2019 20:02:26
Yeah, you tell em Wex and lighten the mood!

8.) 30 Aug 2019 21:15:08
Isn’t Costa Portuguese?

9.) 30 Aug 2019 22:29:48
Touché Bermo! 😂.

10.) 31 Aug 2019 07:57:19
Mmmm Michael Bridges, I think the quote was players told him, “ they had run out of energy after Christmas”! Not really sure what that means, we thrashed West Brom after Christmas and we didn’t look dead on our feet then. We won more games after Christmas as well and we didn’t look exhausted in the first game against Derby or when we were 2-0 up!

Possibly with Bielsa, teams have more time to understand how the team plays and what tactics work best against them. This coupled with the fact that his approach gets better performances out of more average players that are always still prone to errors.

Did Kiko run into Cooper because they were both knackered? Did Beradi get sent off because he was so drained from missing so many games? Handling of pressure both in individual moments of games and generally as the key moments of the season arrived seem to be common themes to me!

11.) 31 Aug 2019 09:43:27
Alf Believe Berm was attempting sarcasm hence his Yeboah reference.

12.) 31 Aug 2019 09:44:21
I tend to agree Spanish . But mental fatigue can also be a factor in errors .

13.) 31 Aug 2019 10:51:27
Wex they shouldn't be after the absolutely mad pre-season they had.

14.) 31 Aug 2019 12:51:37
Cheers George I really need to read posts properly don’t I?

22 Aug 2019 13:20:44
So far so good I guess after four games . Big positive for me is how Bielsa has us set up in midfield with the three of KP, Forshaw and Klich being out and out midfielders as opposed to last year having two midfielders and a forward player at 10 . We may have lost a little bit of creativity but are much more solid in the centre and less prone to counter attacks . This has given licence to the wing backs to bomb forward and we look more dangerous out wide . Forshaw playing in Klich's old number 8 position has looked much better ( although he can't score ) and doesn't get in KP׳s way like he did last season . Upfront, I still have my reservations about Bamford, but he's working harder and Eddie looks like a real fox in the box . Reminds me of Jermaine Defoe in his pomp . Harrison looks better and we still have the likes of Costa, Bogusz and Shack in reserve and Tyler and Ayling when fit . My biggest worry is what happens when inevitably we lose one or both of Cooper / White to injury . We just don't have adequate cover which everyone was crying out for in the window . In terms of the league generally, it looks weaker than last year . The likes of Boro and Derby have gone backwards . But as predicted Fulham will be hard to stop and win games by two or three goals, whereas we will have to do it the hard way . Early days and it all depends on keeping Cooper and White fit, but if so, think we could make top two .

RedhotCurrie

1.) 22 Aug 2019 13:40:52
Good stuff red hot! Still think Pascal is an option for centre back if needed. He is going to be playing regularly in that position in a back 4 or 3 with the under 23s. He is captaining the side so useful experience as well. Last night he “travelled” with the match day squad to the stadium, so is edging a bit closer as a back up option. We didn’t get rid or he opted to stay and he gives us a few more inches which I believe Bermo always appreciate sIt will depend on injuries and suspensions but still wouldn’t surprise me to see him getting a run out before season end. Like to see him get a start against Stoke on Tuesday.

2.) 22 Aug 2019 16:03:00
Yes Spanish my, loud, call would be Struijk/ White v Stoke in the Cup.

3.) 22 Aug 2019 16:13:09
Nice to see you RHC and good post.

4.) 22 Aug 2019 18:36:36
we certainly look more dogged and able to play bad and still get win which last year we didn't sadly i can't see stuijk getting any first team caps this season as it just ain't MB's way. Beradi must have some dirt on him as he can't pass for toffee.

Think with costa and eddie we look so far . more direct, less pretty but more effective which I love to bits . its all about being direct and lots of penertation, which works better on the football pitch than it does for me in the nightclubs.

5.) 23 Aug 2019 07:31:28
It’s the new tactic Bermo, start with the normal team, play pretty, pass the ball around a lot, keep it away from the opposition, denying them opportunities and then bring Costa and Eddie on to get the winning goal, simples!

With Struick, his chance might finally come from injury or suspension. He might get a shout next week just because of the run of matches, he has also played a few times in a back three with the under 23s. At the moment he probably still has Davis and Beradi ahead of him in addition to Cooper and White.

Axe incorrect . Even the board last Summer tried to persuade him to go for Bartley . He wasn’t interested . His school of thought is pretty much anyone can make a job of CB if they can use the ball . Fine in South America or may be even Spain but not on a wet Wednesday night at the Den it’s not!

Spanish if the plan is to go with Cooper, White and Struik plus makeshifts then most would agree it’s a daft plan . If they pull a top quality replacement out of the hat, then that’s a different story . Problem is Bielsa was on record last year as being happy with the numbers in central defence . He’s now swapped Pontus for White, so I suspect in his myopic eyes all good .

Phil Hay saying on twitter Pontus fallen out with the club and some guy on Waccoe saying fee will be £4m . A while back I would have been up in arms about this, but if MB really thinks Pontus is a bad apple he must go . However, surely he’s worth £10 m plus in this market . Furthermore, if MB really plans to go with Cooper and White and thinks they are a first choice CB pairing in a promotion team, then he’s in for a rude awakening . I’m worried he was happy with his number of CB’s last year and he may see White as a replacement for Pontus . If so just watch the avalanche of set piece goals we will concede! We need a top quality replacement!

For me Costa must start . I love Eddie but don’t feel he is ready to bare the burden of the lone striker role from the start . So if he’s going to start it will have to be as a front pair with Bam as Georgie describes .

But he’s hardly going to run through every knock suffered by fringe players in his pressers . Up to the journos to ask the questions . Like why no Pascal with such an obvious lack of night in our central defence?
