Competitive with Liverpool and Man City.

Took down the only 100% team.

Talent coming though.

If we bear Leicester. Dare we say it. an outside chance of European football next season.

Can we wrap Bielsa up in cotton wool and rest him in a hyperbaric chamber smothered in Royal jelly every night please.

At the beginning of the season I went through all the games and guessed at an optimistic (or so it seemed at the time) 44 pts. After our start, everyone's signings and injuries, I think (a slightly pessimistic) 49 will be pretty close. As a result I think Europe might be a little too far, historically that would put us 11th-13th ish. That said first hurdle is 36 pts, drop that relegation threat then anything else is gravy. Hope the squad prove me wrong but I'm ok with a first year to establish followed by a second year attack on the top half.

2.) 28 Oct 2020 05:44:51
Gummie You underestimate our club, you underestimate her greatly. After the start made, I can see us finishing the season in the low 70 point region.

3.) 28 Oct 2020 13:24:59
70+ would almost certainly put us in 3rd, we are not finishing that high in our first season back bud. As i said 49 might be slightly pessimistic but we will have some rough patches, as we did last season, and some of the teams towards the bottom will park the bus and cost us points. 49 pts would constitute a fantastic season and a great place to kick on from. We are currently only 1pt better than I had us so far tbf George but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

4.) 28 Oct 2020 14:38:38
Gummie If Bielsa can finally sort out strategy against the physical types and canny Wolves type (evidence shows he is improving there) then 70/ 71 points is achievable in George opinion. Last year's table would have us finishing 3rd but given the compressed nature of the table at this stage for this season, such a points tally might see us finishing 5th. I fancy us for a 5th place finish. We can hurt teams for real but yes Scousers Citeh and Spurs are currently ahead of us.

5.) 29 Oct 2020 07:55:21
70 points is more per game than we’re currently on, so I can’t see it. That would be 63-64.

I think we’ll have a better idea after the next couple of games, as whilst we’ve started well and the Villa win was impressive, we’ve so far beaten the bottom 2 and the team that escaped relegation by 1 point (albeit on form this season) .

6.) 31 Oct 2020 07:15:07
at this point in the season I have no idea at all where we will end up. We've had some god results but things can change quickly in football and the teams we thought were strong may end up not being so much. We will have a better idea around Christmas so keeping my powder story until then. From what I've seen I think we have enough to stay up, but after that genuinely haven't got a scooby.

7.) 05 Nov 2020 06:29:40
wouldn't the cotton wool stick to the jelly?

22 Feb 2020 06:10:22
If we can open up a four point lead today with a Reading win, reckon we’d need just 24 points off the last 12 games for instant promotion.

Minimum might be 21 (7 wins off 12 games with one being the Fulham game. ) but that would be cutting it very fine requiring Fulham, Forest and Brentford not to otherwise go on a tear at end of season.

Result today and it’s happening, Lads!

Come on you Whites! MOT.

Calm down calm down Toronto, one game at a time.

Sad for Llorente missing out … but not gutted. At the moment he’s 3rd or 4th ranked Centre Back in the squad and playing time a premium … so would likely just miss watching his brother play.

World Cup next year by which time he’ll get another season plus with us -this time unbroken- and so a great chance to move up the pecking order.

Would send best wishes … but urge a “chin up, lad”.

We need:

Left back
Central mid creative type
Goal keeper back up (assuming Casilla is going)
Everyone coming back from Euro fit enough

After that it’s just gravy.

We’ll need to add more quality next year. but that’s because we’ll be in Europe.

1.) 28 May 2021 21:31:02
Mmmmmm I love gravy pal.

2.) 28 May 2021 22:45:57
Always throw a dolp of Marsala into my gravy makes it nice and tasty. Get thinking, George will be on it.

3.) 28 May 2021 23:12:55
Would add a quality striker to that list.

4.) 29 May 2021 13:24:43
AGM Marsala or Marcelo?

5.) 30 May 2021 01:05:31
LB, CM/ AM and LW. Past that it depends on outgoings.
Tbh Melbourne, assuming Rodrigo stays fit I don't think we need another striker, he had a better goal per minute than a lot of forwards and played mainly in behind. I'm fine with him and paddy as long as we bring in someone to fill in the slot at AM.

What I know from this season is:

Paddy Bamigoal is better than anyone gave credit.

Without Raphinha and KP we’re a good side but not a great side.

Good things come to those that wait. Llorente was worth waiting for.

Coops has provided leadership but Aylin’s is a leader in waiting

Meslier is already good and becoming great

“Koch-ing things up” is going to be a good thing.

No one is more versatile or gives more than Dallas

People bounce back from c.v. with Rodrigo and Klich looking sharper with each minute.

Harrison’s gifts are making people take notice of a three year loannee.

Transitions like energizer Alioski works with Harrison and Luke works with Raphinha sand the central mids are a thing of beauty.

And spirit and hard work is everything and I am dead proud of this team that Bielsa hath wrought.

1.) 12 May 2021 14:07:29
Good post.
Can’t disagree with any of it.

2.) 12 May 2021 14:08:14
Very nice post Toronto.

Yes without doubt Bielsa hath wrought spirit and hard work, and extremely important it is too!

, but far more than that though El Magico Bielsa is an architect and an artist who has created a team that plays beautiful wonderful football! 💜⚽️👏.

3.) 12 May 2021 14:19:45
He's an Alchemist Baz - turns sh1t into pure gold.

4.) 12 May 2021 14:37:21
Yes indeedy Alf
' Bielsa The Alchemist' 💜.

5.) 13 May 2021 17:20:34
Well said indeed, Toronto!

01 May 2021 17:41:24
All round poor in almost every part of the park. how we think we’ll do anything by crossing balls into Brighton’s monster defence. absolutely nothing doing. Sorry. poveda has dancing feet. but no final product. Jack’s off form. Alioski not only a daft penalty give away, he was all over the pitch out of position.

After monster performances. we go do that.

5 players needed I’m afraid. at least if we want to challenge for Europe.

And let’s keep Dallas in CAM where he makes and scores goals.

And if I saw Fernandinho trying to walk past me on the street, I might just do to him what he did to Raphinha.

Completely deflated.

Aren't the 🇨🇦 borders still shut?

26 Apr 2021 14:36:24
It’s not just Liverpool who can sing the following to the tune of Guantanamera

Big f’ing Dutchman
We’ve got a big f’ing Dutchman
Big f’ing Dutch-man
We’ve got to big f’ing Dutchman

Except ours is playing at the minute. 🤣🤣🤣.

His English is well better than my Spanish. all I care about is if his feet talk International-grade Footballish. that and he can give just one chorus of MOT. that’d make me more than happy.

Snaily Trail is reporting it’s £30 meg. This should be best and final for sure!

Love White. solid guy. got on well with the lads. and put in his shifts for us. but he ain’t proven at Premier League level and is not yet a 50 mega quid worth of player.

Robin Koch, 2 internationals, proven at Bundesliga level, just 23 and at a fraction of the price. I say if Brighton don’t bite at £30 meg . we should cut bait and get Robin in and not look back.

And those last 10 games included Man City, Man United, Liverpool and Tottenham.

We were shaky at times last night. But still good for the win.

Good to see Berra on the pitch. Hope he and Pablo get a final airing on Sunday.

And if you haven’t done the maths. as of now, 7th is still possible! (Long shot. but possible)

I dunno.

We were really lucky Man City didn’t hit with more than just of their more than 20 attempts.

I also think we’d have been more clinical in the second half.

Was pleased to see Koch get in there and marshall the defence. he and llorente will be out CB pairing for the Liverpool game.

£66Million plus Daniel James

Haaland’s spring clause is £66Million.

Haaland and James would be better than just Raphinha. my pref is not to sell though. because he really fits the team and seems alike a decent lad as well as a very talented footballer.

My dream is to watch football like we’ve been playing. but more consistently and with enough bench and quality and interchangeability to relive European nights.

I’d like us to get at least a trophy or two before I pop me clogs*. but if we are playing at a level of being able to win every game we play, have a good bunch of lads who are decent folk willing to play for each other and die for the team. and we play great football, the rest will come.

*been a supporter of Leeds for 51 years this April. so by law of “years of man are three score and ten” I have 12 more years to give to my love of the club. before I don my white rose shirt for the very last time.
