being linked with Alex Nubel as new goalkeeper. 6'4, contracted with Bayern but has been on loan as Monaco's no.1 for the last two seasons.

EalingBkb

1.) 14 Jul 2023 20:12:12
He could be award winning.

2.) 15 Jul 2023 11:33:58
Think he is going stuttgart.

3.) 15 Jul 2023 14:40:46
Be a very astute signing if if it happens.

08 Jul 2023 17:50:14
Sounds like we might be getting 16 year-old Aberdeen striker Lewis Pirie for 200k.

23 May 2022 11:19:05
Phil Hay's latest Aaronson news also highlights we're moving for Calvin Ramsay and an unnamed Premier League forward.

EalingBkb

1.) 23 May 2022 15:59:00
Eddie wouldn't be a bad shout for the unnamed.

2.) 23 May 2022 19:15:36
Eddie and Joffy up front together, that could give a few defenders sleepless nights.

3.) 23 May 2022 20:43:11
I could see Eddie back here.

4.) 23 May 2022 21:42:01
Why would we want a striker back that has already played for us and didn't really perform well when he did?

Far better targets out there. We can and should aim higher.

5.) 24 May 2022 06:41:15
Dilli Eddie and Minamino would provide adequate depth along with Paddy and Joffy. As for better targets, we did just finish 17th. Acquiring players from Goons and Scousers not exactly terrible for starters.

6.) 24 May 2022 07:07:55
Scored a few important goals dill, and he’d be playing under a new manager and different system.

7.) 25 May 2022 15:12:39
Nketiah and minamino the names mentioned - wanting a striker with PL experience.

8.) 28 May 2022 09:15:53
We’d be like the Crystal Palace of old, with Wright and Bright up front. Scary! I think it was ‘88 when I said we should’ve signed Ian Wright. 🤔😟.

22 May 2022 23:41:38
Athletic reporting that Aaronson deal for around £22.5m (or $28m) is done after we stayed up.

EalingBkb

24 May 2019 00:26:58
Leif Davis to Liverpool wouldn't be the end of the world. I'd accept the 4m for him AND either Brewster or Woodburn on loan for a season.

1.) 24 may 2019 18:16:13

From what I've seen/ read and digressed so far there's been some sad and disappointing things that have happened and some slightly encouraging things.

Negatives

1. Orta left a nasty sting in the tail after relegation with that loan deal - honestly a relegation release clause that enabled us to at least make some money would have been far better.

2. Ampadu aside the lack of movement whether by FFP constraints or lack of otherwise is really hindering us.

Positives.

1. Farke is the best option we could have had especially given the kind of names linked before - Gerrard/ Parker. Much rather Farke.

2. Signing have been snails pace slow but sound or look sensible. Never one to read too much into pre-season but reports I've read rave about ampadu which was a really astute one for a good price and wasn't on any rumour radar until it basically happened. Darlow for 400k sounds very good business either as a starter or backup.

Similarly Byram as a free agent LB seems to be a mild positive so far. If there's a reasonable 1yr deal to be done there I say do it and use that money to shore up cb, cam and stk if we decide that Bamford/ rutter/ gelhardt/ Joseph isn't up to scratch.

Meslier seems to be playing a bit better (maybe a few pressure less games new perspective from a new manager and new goalkeeping coach + a back four that gives him a little perspective can entice him to stay) . Full disclosure I've always been a Meslier fan yes suffered last Yr but so did everyone and I firmly believe for now in his talent. If the 20m comes for him it comes but I would be a mild positive on him staying.

Pushing on - silver lining of the championship 100% means Archie Gray gets to establish himself. Similarly who'd have thought Poveda would come back so fired up? Nice problem to have and consequently a must that we sell a few from the current overstocked wings. I'd love to sell James and if we had to go further Harrison or summerville. Gnonto and sinisterra I'd fight to keep. Farke I've read views Rutter more as a wide forward than central so he probably even gets added to this list now.

A must would be a creative type who ideally knows the championship. I'd ask after Coventry's Hamer (unlikely/ pricey) . Left field more could be someone like Tom Cairney. Knows the division well and Fulham now established might be looking to upgrade on him and a very experienced head he'd be in the champ (leeds academy too I believe) . Sounds weird with 33 apps and their captain but quite a lot of those were sub appearances aside from a starting run towards the end of the season.

EalingBkb

1.) 29 Jul 2023 08:37:01
Cairney is a great shout.

This manager lark is about as efficient as the Wimbledon queue was today :)

EalingBkb

1.) 03 Jul 2023 23:16:49
Just read about that Ealing.
Shame as I always found the queue so well organized. Was a great part of the whole experience for me.

2.) 04 Jul 2023 09:54:14
I always try to go (spent years coaching kids in Ealing) - George Loffhagen - a young guy from our club playing today. The Q is usually fantastic. I took a mate yesterday his first time there and his birthday too. We got there at 6:30am and didn't get in til after 3pm. Normally 6:30 arrival is good for like 11:00am entry. I spent all morning apologising to the poor chap, this isn't normal! we still worked hard to have a good day (not a great day) and saw Gasquet and Wawrinka so it was nice.

3.) 04 Jul 2023 11:07:17
Only in Britain could queuing be described as 'part of the experience'.

19 Jun 2023 13:13:20
Gary O'Neill sacked

First thoughts - what a joke from Bournemouth. Second - get him in for talks, I'm not saying give him the job but let's here what he has to say.

Yes his record is a small sample size but his record is absolutely outstanding given what he had to work with. Also a manager unlikely to complain and likely would instil a camaraderie and togetherness about the club again.

EalingBkb

1.) 19 Jun 2023 13:34:41
He deserved far better

As for Leeds considering him . NO! That would be further procrastination, dithering. changing minds, making it up as that go along

Get it done now.

2.) 19 Jun 2023 13:40:30
Let's not prolong out manager hunt. Surely by now the club should know who they want, agree with Baz, let's get it done.
Feel sorry for O'Neill but not sure he would be right for for us, maybe need someone like farke.

3.) 19 Jun 2023 13:46:03
I was lost for words when I read that earlier! It’s on a similar level to Leicester sacking Ranieri after he won them the title! …. he seems and nice guy, and obviously a good motivator, but I don’t think he has sufficient experience for us right now. Managing Leeds is a much bigger job than Bournemouth with a great deal more pressure.

4.) 19 Jun 2023 14:58:29
Agree Harsh, but remember Soton did it to Adkins after back to back promotions, but bought in Poch.
Wondered about Potter but clickbait saying Iroala.
Unfortunately no sentiment in football.
Shame we didn't do the same with Brenty,
No to Oneil imo
MOT.

5.) 19 Jun 2023 15:21:19
And within minutes of sacking him Bournemouth announce Areola as their new manager.

Wow super impressed by their swiftness and decisiveness

Decisive regime at Bournemouth as opposed to our increasingly unimpressive ditherers and procrastinators.

6.) 19 Jun 2023 16:15:04
What a joke we are becoming.
I'm getting the proverbial pee taken out of me from every club under the sun at work :- (.

7.) 19 Jun 2023 17:10:40
Here we go! Slagging off the new owners without a board being announced!
De ja poo anyone, fffffs!?

8.) 19 Jun 2023 17:57:27
“our increasingly unimpressive ditherers and procrastinators. “
Please tell me that’s in jest? The papers on ownership haven’t even been signed, but you’ve started already? Nah. You’re joking, right!? Right?

9.) 19 Jun 2023 19:45:00
While extremely harsh on ONeil, I have to admire the bottle shown by Bournemouth. It would have an easy option to keep Gary after him keeping them up but obviously they feel the new guy is the man to keep them up long term.,

10.) 19 Jun 2023 19:49:07
" Papers on ownership not yet be signed "

First of all get a move on? as transfer window is already open

And second is that your lame excuse for ponderously slow interviews process taking place, and not even a coach offer agreement in principle

Also explain therefore Bright how Nicky Hammond was announced as signed by Leeds United ?

11.) 19 Jun 2023 20:49:13
Hammond wasn’t “signed”. He “will” be employed. He is not yet. What business does your experience come from Baz? Do you have a single scooby about corporate management, or do you just like taking a dump on everyone else’s opinions, without knowing a single turd about what your saying?

12.) 19 Jun 2023 21:20:32
. signed up / employed.

whatever.

he is already working for Leeds United .

13.) 19 Jun 2023 21:40:29
And what's with your latest contradictory nonsense Bright that he 'will be employed ''he hasn't yet'

the transfer window already opened on June 14 and it was confirmed by Leeds United official website on 15 June (which you lifted also in your post of same date) that he had been appointed to oversee the transfer window '

14.) 19 Jun 2023 22:50:34
And Championship clubs are signing players all around them!
Calm down Baz.

15.) 20 Jun 2023 08:43:55
That’s about a 9 on the tension scale there Baz. Don’t go on the offensive to defend yourself. We all know all you ever do is moan.

16.) 20 Jun 2023 10:14:30
Sure it's true I do have a moan and man there's been plenty to moan about past 2 seasons ( as even you would acknowledge)

But I am always chilled Brighty dealing with your repetitively flawed illogical nonsense posts that are often soaked in hypocrisy too lol

However I do ADMIRE your fierce loyalty to ALL things Leeds United come what may

So for that

Cheers fella ?.

17.) 20 Jun 2023 12:02:16
And cheers back! ?????
Fair play fella!

A worry that many reporting Raphinha to Arsenal for sub £50m. His 'dream' was Barcelona and that shouldn't have happened for less than £60m. Selling in division should not be less than £65m.

Also Kalvin to City seems to be getting more and more traction.

Wouldn't mind a pair of City prospects in Palmer and McAtee or Delap to help that through with some cash if it seems nailed on.

Good to see us moving for targets at rb, cm, and CAM. Still want that experienced reserve keeper, probably another cm, a lb, and a Striker.

The above is only 'net ins' so if as expected Raph and possibly Phillips leave add replacements for them (unless replacements come in as immediate part-exchanges) .

EalingBkb

1.) 20 Jun 2022 13:20:37
Can't understand rapphy it's just a stop gap that really anyway if he doesn't want leeds united sod him get what we can for him n Philips mot wigan whites.

2.) 20 Jun 2022 14:01:26
Ealing - the figures quoted in articles re Arsenal’s interest in Raphinha will just be guesswork and partly based on the fictional info SPORT kept on churning out while trying to help finesse a budget transfer to their beloved but brassic Barca. Phil Hay has previously said Leeds want £60-70m for the lad, and nothing has happened materially since then to make the Club reduce that figure.

3.) 20 Jun 2022 14:08:56
Old Fabrizio Romano is now claiming the fee for Raphinha is expected to be £65/ £75m
I’d accept smith Rowe and £50m ?.

4.) 20 Jun 2022 16:49:51
EalingBkb he said he want to play for a better club yep that’s right Leeds give him that if he thinks they are that then he can go but only if the asking price is higher that that we would have gone to Barca,

5.) 20 Jun 2022 18:53:57
Sweaty ? ESR is a terrific player. I can see Raph ending up at Chavs, not Goons.

6.) 20 Jun 2022 19:20:29
I’d accept Rowe and 30-35 million. Unfortunately can’t see Arsenal selling the lad.

7.) 20 Jun 2022 19:29:50
Very good mate of mine is a gooner he feels Arsenal would be another stepping stone for him, and he can't see them giving us smith rowe,

8.) 20 Jun 2022 21:09:39
I think Raph just wants to go to a club who are showing ambition. This is one of the results of our failure to demonstrate any ambition whatsoever last season and a measure of Raphs belief that we will be showing any serious ambition this year.

9.) 20 Jun 2022 21:22:05
If anyone is prepared to cough up 70 plus Mil up front, they’ve got their man. If Arsenal pay 70 Mil for a winger, I’m a monkey’s uncle. They desperately need a 20/ 25 goal scoring striker, that’s where their big money is going if they won’t to progress. Nketiah is not the man now, maybe in the future?
As Clu said, just media hot air.

10.) 20 Jun 2022 21:39:24
Spot on Alf : much more ambition and far better players recruited last season could have led to Raph staying longer.

11.) 21 Jun 2022 06:30:10
Baz Realistically was never going to happen with Radz decision to sell.

12.) 21 Jun 2022 06:54:18
Also why would he go to Arsenal, it’s a given that Raph would want to be involved with CL football. Arsenal are being used as the stick up up the bum to get Barcelona moving and create the funds necessary. They have to sell players, quickly.

13.) 21 Jun 2022 07:02:40
Totally agree Alf/ baz, said we needed to build a squad around raphi after coming 9th.

28 May 2022 09:41:44
Think the biggest no brainer of the window would be Leeds trying to move for Matt Targett - reading that despite Newcastle fans loving him (my mate is one and agrees he's quality) they're looking at other options like Renan Lodi instead. Toon had a £15m option on his loan so if they don't take that up we should be in offering him first team football (not backup to Lodi or Digne) ahead of Firpo.

EalingBkb

1.) 28 May 2022 13:07:52
100% agree,

2.) 28 May 2022 17:05:52
Would take Targett. Definitely an improvement on Firpo.

3.) 28 May 2022 18:34:17
I, am an improvement on Firpo Dilli!

4.) 28 May 2022 19:53:07
I heard we were interested- could do worse.

5.) 28 May 2022 21:32:35
Leif Davies.? No?

6.) 28 May 2022 22:39:21
Brighty, that’d be a no. Unfortunately he seems to have become very injury prone.

7.) 29 May 2022 00:44:14
Targett 🎯 is a good target 🎯 to target 🎯.

8.) 29 May 2022 08:20:27
I’d take Targett all day long .

How are we allowing this - is this still a clause thing or have Bournemouth offered a ridiculous loan fee? given it's the last day of window surely the latter.

Not that I want players to stay if they don't want to be here but I expected a permanent deal and money in the bank with the ability to spend to bring in a left back and cam.

would also say, Poveda looks promising yet still needs to take a big step to be truly useful. Drameh and Summerville have earned the chance to have a go in the first team I hope before the end of the season but have proved nothing yet i sincerely hope they do in some (hopefully) dead rubbers.

i read somewhere he is on 50K a week, not sure how much i trust the source admittedly. His age for me isn't such a problem. He strikes me as someone who maybe his pace has or will go a little but will bust a gut and has experience playing for big teams in a high-pressure environment. Not like the last guy we signed from Madrid who basically sat on their bench for ages, this guy actually plays and if he gets a solid 3-4 yr deal to take him to 33 yrs good stuff. Free agent too means i'm not so annoyed about signing him with decreasing sell-on value based on age.

Costa not worth £16m - yet. But Jack Harrison (JH) wasnt worth 8m a year ago and now he's very good value on that - could be a bargain with more improvement.

If Costa applies himself like JH in terms of attitude and work rate i think he has a higher ceiling than JH and maybe that second season with Bielsa is what he needs. Or he could turn into a dud but i hope not.

Regarding the £16m i think its an instalments thing ('loan' intially) but think we probably paid first instalment a while back to stay right with FFP rules. Meslier, and JH to come in permanently next - Meslier is bags of potential and some great games (arsenal) but isn't quite finished article yet but 5M is a steal for him. 2 new cbs needed (if we can't get White back) . And a striker if we can get out of the Augustin farce. Eduoard would do very nicely.

Personally I want to see more of Gotts, Shackleton Mccalmont, and Davis. If we finish the job and go up either they stay and hopefully get a long run in cups (wishful thinking) or sort them a Ch loan. Shacks probably closest to fringes of first team so might stay.

Think I'm right in saying we'd be entitled to a fee even if he left on a free due to his age - so we have a bit of room there not that these tribunals ever give a great deal. Ultimately his future will be determined by who comes and in and if they fancy him over Ayling / Kristensen. But I want to see him given a chance.

I've been hoping for Mata for the last year and a half. I'd offer him a two yr deal (understanding that he's very much a prem version of the Championship version of Pablo) . Wouldn't be able to play 38 games a season but with the squad depth we now have we wouldn't need him too. Would be unbelievable around the young players too as by a lot of accounts he's been a class act. Think people like Greenwood, Aaronson and even Bamford could learn and/ or benefit from having him around on and off the pitch. Strikes me as someone without a big ego too and wages would be less of a problem than with some so long as A. he's paid competitively within the squad and B. He buys into the project. Only rumours so far though.
