Lille aren't going to overpay for Fleming, and there are suggestions that the fee will be £17m plus add ons. Surprised it's that low if it's correct. If we don't get a striker then the good early work on Wilson, Trafford and the two defenders becomes a bit of a let down. Teams who don't score enough goals go down.

Teams who can't defend go down. We have a better keeper, defence, and forward line than last season. Yes, we need backups, but we have a far better starting lineup than last year, so I don't understand the talk of relegation. The reality is that, whatever we did in this window, there would always be moaning fans, as there are every window.
We've bought 4-5 players who significantly improve the squad, got rid of some dead wood, and held onto our best players. That's a pretty decent window, in my eyes, and there are still a few days left.

Yep, defence and mf need to be solid and good. Signing Rutter instead of a marquee mf for that record 40m got us relegated, good as he was. We needed to back up Philips with a quality 6/8 first season back in the Prem. Sliding doors. Does Philips even get injured? An Okafor clone, and a real high quality 6/8 beside Ampadu to facilitate a stronger, consistent 5,3,2, establishes this team with a very high ceiling, imo.
Play a false 9 if it comes to it, to the next window. Still think a 9 is coming. Keepers out, keepers in, defenders out, defenders in, Piroe out, someone in.

Two of those things never happened, and the third took 3 weeks rather than 48 hours, so you have to accept that I'm somewhat sceptical of the accuracy of both your claims.

JR, Leeds should have offered the very dependable Karl Darlow the number 1 gig and a 2 or 3 year contract.. increased his salary too.
Trafford is a very good keeper, but Leeds have spent an inordinate amount on transfer fee and wages, which very likely has impacted on our ability to sign a class striker and other positions which needed filling.

I agree re Darlow, but don't think keeping him as No 1 and getting a new No 2 was ever likely, and he knew he was going to be No 2 if he stayed, whoever we got in. More significant to me is that with Zetterer leaving, Frankfurt are signing a new keeper, Noah Atubolu, from Freiburg, who is seen in Germany as the national team's next No 1 after Neuer, just as Trafford is to Pickford here.
The difference is that Trafford cost us £40M, whereas Atubolu is signing for Frankfurt on a season long loan with a EUR15M buy obligation in a year's time. We could have signed him instead and had about £27M to play with on other new signings - LWB, LW, 10 or 9 etc. I know which option I'd have chosen.

Agree, JR. We've spent well on defenders in Gary and Elvedi, but we could have brought in a cheaper goalkeeping alternative. Other clubs have, both this and last season, and the Freiburg keeper was mentioned as a possible target early in the window.
The lack of a third striker and probably cover at LB is certainly a concern. We might be lucky again and get through the campaign without DCL or Nmecha being injured, but I think it's a risk not worth taking.

Seen a few posts on that subject, Bright. The Saudi window doesn't close until after ours, and I've seen comments that they are allowed to buy until 20th September. Ramzanni could hold on for some time in the hope of getting a move there.
I'm sure it would be the best financial option for United.

Strange how he had the very same issues on loan with Corberan. So you would say Farke should have kept him around the team, contrary to our 'side before self' mantra, and undermining every player that does show an appropriate level of professionalism.
Cause and effect, and the cause of this ongoing mess lies firmly with the player and his pee-poor attitude.
What's his net worth? £5/6 million at a time when we're investing £30/40 million on top players.
The lad has skills, no doubt about it, but it's better to cut our losses than undermine our fantastic togetherness.
For the level we're now at, a mutual termination of his contract is fine with me. Like Cree, unbelievable skill sets do not excuse you from having a terrible attitude. Well done, Farke, for doing what's best for the club, not the player.
