Total agree Devon, but the need for a better back up than Nmecha and a decent AM has been apparent since the end of last season if not earlier. We brought in two wide players in the Summer who on the face of it are or could be good players but don't particularly fit in to our current system.

They weren't the big need-a striker and AM were and still are.

Farke lost trust in Gnonto. And he was underwhelming last season. He's done very little in italy too. Gnonto wouldn't have solved our problems this yr.

Maybe its the uncertainty of that situation that's affecting performances. Farke will have less authority if some of the squad think he's on his way out.

I called for Farke to get sacked a year ago in the midst of that six defeats in seven run. This is no where near as bad as that and he proved that he could turn that around. I'm still a ways away from turning against him now.

Gnonto is generally busy and lively on pitch.but facts remain that last seez he failed to score or assist in Leeds United's EPL matches.

He hasnt scored or assisted in Italy this seez either.

So. I think you may be overating Gnonto fellas.even BA had 9 EPL goal contributions last seez.

Baz we can finally agree on something recently haha. I don't think that Gnonto would be solving the issues we have right now at all.

FWIW Darlow has played once and was culpable for one of the goals in the Cup, Struijk got sent off, unluckily so and it was rescinded,and he's also spent half the campaign so far injured. Meslier in goal for Arsenal as they got knocked out by L2 even if the goal wasn't an error and all the penalties well struck. Perri hasn't played well, nor does it seem has Piroe. In fact West Ham in general have played so poorly that they might not get promoted to trigger the piroe clause. Ramazani has had a fair start in a bad Burnley team.

Its not been a good start for many of the sales and loanees and some of them might well be back. But there's little doubt that we absolutely made the right call in moving them on.

I'm finding the reports this morning that Man United are poised to snap up Calvert Lewin in January completely ridiculous.
Yeah we'll sell him to them and make a nice profit and have no adapted striker to slot into his place.


Meanwhile we are struggling in the relegation zone.
I'm not saying that the club "might" cash in on him in the summer, but in January is just laughable.

I actually don't think it's laughable. I think every player has a price. Ofc for him to go there it would be astronomical for:

DcL recent form and durability improvement.
It being January
It being Manchester united as a rival
It being Manchester united in desperate need

If I were our recruitment team (they'll have been doing this anyway) I'd be lining up contingencies to replace DCL. He has 18 months left on his deal. We've had his fittest season and a half in nearly a decade it feels like. It still feels like we hit a jackpot on that and it won't last.

Now I'm not about to say take a cut price £40m for him no. They'll moan and complain about £90m but that is what id start at with all the circumstances. And if we're not with a good points total by then, it won't matter we won't sell. They should baulk at £90m and move on. If we're in a good place £90m rebuilds the forward line.

I think it's absolutely wrong to even think of quoting a price, even one as high as £90M. We all know that MU could easily afford that much and would quite likely agree to pay even that high a price to solve their temporary problem. Our response should be that he's not for sale, so talking values is pointless, and please just b####r off.


In any case DCL himself would most probably reject the idea of moving from a happy squad to a rabble where he knows he'd only be seen as a stopgap until Sesko is fit again or another high price star could be found.

I remember when George Graham took the managers role and stating you should build from the back and I hope that's what we're doing. We obviously concentrated on goalie and centre backs, and I don't think we have any complaints about what we have. The proof of the pudding is if we then recruit playmaking midfielders and goal scorers. We shall see 🤔.

Yep that 96/97 first seez of Georgie playing uber defensive included a mid seez run of an AMAZING 13 clean sheets in 16 matches

The next seez the Leeds United recruitment did very well to scout a young very talented Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink for a mere £2 million and playmaker Bruno Ribeiro for far less and scored loads of goals with a very young Harry Kewell and Rod Wallace too.

I was hoping the Leeds recruitment could have scouted a young promising striker at a reasonable price last summer.

I think most fans can see that this is exactly what we are doing, and have the patience and foresight to wait and see what the next couple of seasons bring, within tight financial constraints. I'm pretty confident that this plan will see us retain our PL status, and see those investments in attacking, forward thinking players come to fruition.

At least we 'concentrated' on goalkeeper AND defence. And not even to the detriment of wing positions, even if Wilson and Bahoya have not come good (yet) . Unlike another club who focuses on certain positions practically to the exclusion of almost every other position.
