I got a feeling that it'll be sorted out during the long international break.
Evans stated that they do want Farke to commit to a new contract.
Likewise, Farke wants to continue at Leeds.

There's so many little details in contracts of managers and players these days that they can drag on a bit. It's certainly nothing about waiting to see how he fares with results at the start of this season.

Both parties are aligned, which is the most important part of getting his contract signed.

If we can achieve mid table this season, I think DF would want commitment on squad strengthening.
We have done well last season, and improved the quality of the squad again this summer.
We are only going to tread water, or go backwards, if we don't keep bringing in the players required to bring us up to a top half side challenging for Europe.

Don't think any success will come by changing manager.
All the great teams, who have not totally bought success, did it with stability and building year on year.
Look at Arsenal under Wenger and then Arteta.
We need to keep building and investing.
Top half and challenging for Europe is the number one goal atm.

Just watched the highlights from the game the other night, I honestly believe we should lay off Zetterer. Their goals wer perfectly placed, Zetterer was blind sided by 2 LU defenders for Palmers 2nd and Welbecks 2nd was a massive deflection. He did seem to have boots of lead, he didn't dive but he would have not saved many of the goals from going in.

Hate to say it but Chelsea's superiorioty shone through, 1/2 time subs simply out powered & classed us. If we'd started with our 1st team and been 2 or 3 up at HT then it could've been a different result.
We move onto Monday night, play our first team and I'm sure it'll be a different performance.

Leeds United need and deserve better than a number 2 who "he did seem to have boots of lead."

Even Farke called Zet out in his press conference for not diving, and for not trying to save the 2nd goal, etc.



Just as with Perri, who Farke also called out publicly, it looks like neither were on Farke's wanted list.

Agree with Koch, they were all unsavable goals, maybe the 5th? But I doubt it.
Farke's comment was meant in the sense that you have to look like you are trying even if you know you are not going to save the shot, and I totally agree with that.
He had the proverbial nightmare for any goalkeeper on his debut and you have to feel sorry for him. I doubt very much Trafford would've saved any of those perfectly placed shots.
Trafford was lucky he wasn't playing in that game.



His save from Gittens on his inside post was a very good reaction.
If you want to blame any players, then it should be the defenders, as Farke said in his interview, "they were not switched on" and didn't react fast enough.

In the end, no individual player was to blame in this game, just a random Cup game with a freak result.
It's better not to dwell on it and certainly not to pick out Zetterer as the sole blame.

Farke never blames himself publicly, and rarely calls out any of his players, but when he does do so, OP, you can bet they are destined for bench warming at best.



And, if Trafford isn't saving the 2nd, and especially the 5th, goal, I would be seriously questioning a whopping £45 million outlay.

Bombed out? I don't think so. Perri came to Leeds expecting to be the number one keeper, sadly for him it didn't work out, which happens, so he wanted to leave and now has.
Zetterer has arrived at Leeds United knowing he is only going to be back up to Trafford.



I know it's difficult for you to understand these things, Baz, perhaps try not to look at everything football in a black and white context, there are reasons why certain situations arrive, and they are not always as simple as you want to make them out.

It was reported for months that Zet wanted to stay in Germany, with Frankfurt competing to be number 1.

So, it's not exactly unlikely, OP, that the number 2 Leeds United gig doesn't exactly float his boat. #short-term move for Zet.



So, next summer, leaving of his own volition, or eased out, or even bombed out by the then Leeds management. Either way, I doubt Zet stays beyond this seez.

I have nothing against Farke. I was just agreeing with Baz's statement that he never takes accountability after a defeat.

For instance, he would never admit that he picked the wrong team or the wrong tactics. And he definitely would never say that maybe he waited too long to make substitutions!

No, it's not factual criticism. Look, I'm sure he's admitted occasionally that he's got the odd thing wrong, but which manager do you know openly throws himself under the bus, especially a team that is fighting to stay in the Premiership? That would be like shooting himself in his own foot.

A manager's existence in the EPL is difficult enough as it is. You can forgive him sometimes, can you not, if he doesn't fall on his own sword every match day.

Bright, in hindsight we all probably are, but we can see others' posts as opinions, and freely express them. Most of us can say that we are not experts, but are still Leeds fans. We all have views, which are clearly expressed in the stands week in, week out.

Some do question Farke as a manager, some say he's great, but never have I yet met a Mr Right, and I will never expect someone else's views other than my own. I think I know what could happen if there ever was one.

For me, Gudmundsson is a weak leak defensively, but we have not signed a better replacement this summer.

He hasn't been playing well, but I would still pick Stach for now (in for DJ) .

I would like to see JMB play to assess him.

Truth is, and it pains me to say it, a misfiring, poor Wilson is better than a good, misfiring James. The best thing about James is he keeps defences busy, but he just can't deliver a decent cross consistently, whereas Wilson also keeps defences busy, but actually can deliver a cross.

We are not seeing the best Wilson yet.

Gudmundsson and Okafor are our best left-side options, even though Gudmundsson is vulnerable at the back (like Firpo was) , but he creates chances.

Early doors, but it almost seems that despite the strong pre-season, I'd be surprised if Longstaff has done himself any favours in pushing for a starting role. It felt like maybe he'd eased Tanaka out for next up. It feels like though that Tanaka is back in the reckoning, especially after starting vs.

Brighton.
Even in a good first half for Leeds overall, felt Longstaff wasn't that good.
I don't think Longstaff has been good in the season proper. I know he had an assist in the Forest Cup game but he wasn't good then either overall.

I think people put too much emphasis on pre season. Longstaff is not Leeds standard, not even EPL standard, imo. We were looking to upgrade on him with Shea Charles, but unfortunately we couldn't get a deal done.


Sean is on nearly 100k a week, so it's gonna be hard to get another club mug enough to pay anywhere near those wages.
Along with Perri, a very poor signing.

Well, interesting and bizarre match last night, siblings. There are positives and negatives, of course, but blimey, that was our 5th game of the season, at a tough venue, in the cup that is, quite honestly, a pain.

I really don't think it's time to be criticising and writing off the team, various players, DF, the season lala la. Get a grip guys, we are in a very good place, imo of course!

Think the key is, as Baz says, that the next two games are important, and will show us where we are at. Both are realistically winnable, so expecting 6. 4 semi acceptable. 3 and under not. Looking at the two managers last night, even after the game, Alonso looked the more concerned, and so he should be.
He ain’t winning anything this season with that defense, and I’m not sure he has a solution for it.
The best they could achieve this season, in my estimation, is maybe qualify for the Champions League.
