What player changes (if any)
and team formation would you like to see for the crucial home 🏡 match vs Burnley?

Will Stach start in midfield?

5 or 4 at the back?

DCL and Nmecha to start upfront?

And any results predictions from you guys?

I am going for a narrow Leeds win.

Leeds 1 Vs Burnley 0.

West Ham draw at Brentford nil nil.

Villa beat Spuds 1 nil.

Forest beat Chelsea 2 nil.

Although Chelsea have been poor, Baz, they may get a bounce with reaching the Cup Final. As much as I dislike them, I hope they best Forest and Spurs in the run in. Purely for selfish reasons, of course.

5

28 Apr 2026 18:30:00
Yes LUFCfeath, Chelsea beating Spuds and Forest would be very helpful for us.

But Forest are now scoring for fun, with on fire Gibbs-White and the return of Chris Wood.

Personally I'd drop Ampadu. He was so bad at the weekend, and kept dropping us deeper n deeper.
Bring in Longstaff and go four at the back.
Midfield trio of Stach, Tanaka and Longstaff.

6

28 Apr 2026 21:51:31
4 at back and dropping Ampadu.. Like it, Corkey

Your attacking midfield trio of Stach, AO and Longstaff also assist and score crucial goals..
Are you proposing a front 3 of DCL, Nmecha and Okafor?

It's Burnley at home, not PSG away. Leeds/Farke should pick an attacking team.

5

28 Apr 2026 22:35:38
I'd go along with your scoreline predictions, Baz.

Although I actually think we will put more than one past Burnley.

A victory for us, a defeat for Spurs, then a draw against Spurs the following week, and we are safe - let's think positive, and it will happen. :)

28 Apr 2026 23:14:41
Great minds think alike, Cleggy. 😉

I blooming hope we are both proved correct and Leeds are safe ASAP by match week 36!

As this EPL safety malarkey is uber anxiety-producing.

It also affected one's propensity to properly focus, relax, and enjoy the FA Cup semi-final as much as I would have liked.

With the Leeds United EPL safety scenarios on one's mind throughout the FA Cup semi-final match.

Normally I'd go 5 at the back, but with Gudmundsson out, we don't get the same effect from that line-up with Justin.
If we go with 4 and 2 up top, I'd like to have Okafor and James as the wide players.
Ampadu and Stach are in the middle.

2

29 Apr 2026 03:36:50
I'd play.
Perri.
Bog rod bij just.
Stach ao long.
Oka Gnonto and namecheck.
Not gonna happen though.
Will be back to normal.
He won't drop Dcl or Ba.

2

29 Apr 2026 06:59:13
Based on previous experience, I'd expect Burnley to go for a low block 5:4:1 sort of formation, so I'd go with a 3:5:2.
Perri.
Rodon, Bijol, Struijk.
Bogle, Stach, Ampadu, Tanaka, Justin.
Dcl, Okafor.

Possible subs around 60 mins.
Gnonto for Okafor.
Nmecha for Dcl.

Later on, possibly
Longstaff and/or Ba for Stach and/or Tanaka.

We'll all be wrong though.

29 Apr 2026 07:12:15
Canada, I like your attacking line up with 2 pacy wingers DJ and Okafor.

Aus, Perri in goal? Thought you campaigned long and hard for Darlow to replace him in Cup, so why is he in your league line up?

JR, but does that starting line up have the ability to score against and beat a low block?

2

29 Apr 2026 08:39:05
Oops, Baz. Correct. My bad. Thanks for noticing. Had a bad few days tbh. Def Darlow in goal.

29 Apr 2026 09:12:22
If Burnley play as expected with a deep low block, then James is so ineffective as his speed will be irrelevant and his football brain just doesn't exist. Head down, run and hope.

Games like this are where the waves of screams from fans come for a number 10.

I'd consider trying to fit Stach, Brenda and Tanka in the same lineup against Burnley.

Justin on the left doesn't give you what Gabby does so no print breaking Justin and Bogle off from the right (which I presume he will do) to be less effective on both sides.

Now that the two FA Cup finalists are known, perhaps the bookies should start to offer odds on which team will be first to employ the bogus goalkeeper injury scam. 😡

28 Apr 2026 14:07:47
Simply take gk to sideline for 30secs. Done. And do more of what Amps did.

27 Apr 2026 13:16:56
Shame about yesterday but ultimately it was merely a distraction. The primary aim this season is survival and we are still on course for that so hopefully we refocus and get the job done on Friday. Don't worry if the 9ers achieve their goals. That won't be the last semi-final we appear in.

7

27 Apr 2026 15:27:47
Correct, Alf. If we get 3 points on Friday, most of us will look back on yesterday and say "que sera sera".

3

27 Apr 2026 17:13:40
See what you did there, JR!

1

27 Apr 2026 17:48:18
We were off it - def. in the first half - and if you don't take your chances when they come, then you can pay for it. But it's good to see the news orgs. criticizing the injury feigning. Doesn't show Chelsea in a good light.

2

27 Apr 2026 17:52:37
Lads on Overlap, giving out absolutely horrific numbers of amounts of lolly Chelsea are losing.

Surely it's got to be unsustainable.

Absolute cheats.

4

28 Apr 2026 01:15:21
They declared a loss of £262.4M for the 2024/25 season, but claimed to be compliant with PSR rules and therefore escaped any sanction. That was on top of losses of £155M in 2022/23 and £155,9M in 2020/21.

As you say, sooner or later, those sort of losses have to be unsustainable, and failure to qualify for Europe this season might just be the wrecking ball that brings the house of cards crashing down.

2

28 Apr 2026 08:48:44
Fingers crossed, JR!

Watching the game again, especially the first half. It is clear we retreated from the off, which left DCL totally isolated and huge gaps in the midfield which they exploited.

Not unreasonable for our mainly young side to freeze, but Chelsea actually younger average age.

I’ve noted this is clearly dictated by our hugely talented, consistent and unbelievably committed skipper Ethan.

I forget he’s still only 25 (I own pants older than that) as he’s seems to around for ages. However, in the absence of other voices, leaders, Ethan does drop deeper and deeper at times, especially when we have been leading games which has resulted in some last minute equalisers, winners and loss of points.

Also playing against his old club, he would have wanted to impress, he certainly was no worse than anyone else on the day, but it’s something I would like Farkey to address over the remaining games, next season.

All of our best performances, have been when playing at pace and wingbacks bombing forwards, we need this type of mindset for the remaining games.

Not a dig at Ethan, who has been brilliant this season but I believe he is the metronome that the rest of the team follows, and we’ve dropped (I believe) valuable points as a result of retreating too soon in previous fixtures.

Finally copy Forest play both DCL and Namecheck up top against Burnley from the off and blow them away early, then bring Okafor on who struggles after 50 mins it seems.

Points I've made separately and totally agree with, Class!

27 Apr 2026 11:06:23
I'd like to think we will never stoop to this 'goalkeeper scam', {which seems to work}. Besides bringing game into disrepute, could or should be deemed as inciting fans. But imagine if we did the fines and sanctions that would come our way.

5

27 Apr 2026 12:15:08
If we was winning 1-0, and our keeper went down to take the sting out of the game, and we went on to win, then we wouldn't be having this discussion.

As always, don't hate the player, hate the game. Until the rules change, then if teams take advantage of this, then so be it.

6

27 Apr 2026 12:16:03
I like a good conspiracy, but.

.Surely even Leeds wouldn't get fines and sanctions from Leeds hating authorities for what would be so blatantly discriminatory.

No. this goalkeeping scam needs to be crushed pronto.

Perhaps a rule this summer stating all players must go to centre circle (away from touchline) whilst gk is being treated.

And, 5 points deduction for any club infringing this by still blatantly seeking coaching instructions whilst gk injured.

27 Apr 2026 15:23:59
My solution to the "goalkeeper" problem.

Any injured player who receives "life support" is required to leave the field for a minimum of 10 minutes, including the keeper. The only exception is that the keeper can be replaced by another player / keeper without exhausting the substitution allowance, however, once the keeper leaves the pitch for critical life support, he is not allowed to return to the game. That free substitution would be permanent.

I think that would stop keepers feigning injury.

Alternatively, concrete over all pitches and see how many players choose to throw themselves to the ground [very ruffley!]

In all seriousness, if a keeper is injured, he should leave the pitch for assessment like all outfield players.

As "daft" as that sounds, they really wouldn't feign injuries.

All outfield players to stand in the centre circle.

The modern game is so f*** tiresome and I would hate it just as much even if Leeds tried to exploit it.

Modern / current players, refs, owners, and managers are the current "custodians" of the game, and frankly they are ruining it.

4

27 Apr 2026 15:33:58
Agreed, Baz. Odd that it's happened twice against us and none against anyone else, unless I blinked and missed it.

2

27 Apr 2026 15:51:18
If the goalkeeper goes down, the game is stopped no matter what, so the rule needs to be changed to: the game will continue until the ball is out of play or another infringement has happened. Let us see how many keepers now fake injuries, I bet none.

2

27 Apr 2026 16:10:53
It was ridiculous and sad for the game of football watching this latest episode of blatant gamesmanship (I can't call it cheating, as there is no rule against it) by Chelsea's goalkeeper yesterday.

Their outfield players weren't much better, rolling about as if they had been fatally wounded, then getting up as if a miracle had taken place. I hope my Club never resort to these desperate actions.

28 Apr 2026 08:51:21
It was good to see Farke refusing to comment on it in his post-match interviews, stating that it might sound like sour grapes. So many other PL gaffers would've!

Class from Farke.

And Adonis Storr has it spot on imo.

Adonis Storr wrote: The club that has spent £2.233 billion the last 3 seasons; and spent a large chunk of this Wembley semi-final theatrically throwing themselves to the floor won.

Chelsea were resurgent after their 'supply teacher' was relieved of his job. Turned out it was the worst time to play Chelsea who showed none of the quality their riches deserved.

Leeds changed tactics at HT and switched to a back four and caused the London club massive problems. To combat this, Robert Sanchez got an "injury" and the whole Chelsea team went over for a team talk.

The Blues were suddenly much more composed after that.

Leeds didn't do enough to earn a place in the Final despite being hampered by a referee who fell for Chelsea's theatrics at every turn and allowed them to snuff any momentum Leeds had started to build up over the match.

Another visit to Wembley, still not seen Leeds score.

27 Apr 2026 11:14:14
I couldn't care less how much Chelsea have spent, it's nothing to do with Leeds.
I care about results and performances, and I'm afraid to say, yesterday there was a lack of character from this team. Slow, pedestrian football, everyone too scared to make a mistake.
We have to show on Friday that yesterday was an anomaly.

🗞️ Henry Winter on Leeds: a balanced viewpoint.

Leeds United can take pride in their season. Leaving Wembley disappointed and frustrated actually shows what they have achieved this season. They under-performed compared to some of their more vibrant, assertive form on that seven-game unbeaten run. Leeds lost (deservedly) to a newly-motivated Chelsea side whose starting XI cost £551m. Leeds’ starting XI cost £103m. It's not a level playing field for starters.

Leeds went out with a whimper, too meek in the first half, but have over-achieved this season. Plenty of reasons for positivity. Close to confirming they’re staying up, against gloomy pre-season predictions of many rivals. Six points clear of the drop zone with four games remaining and Burnley at home on Friday. Showing a togetherness in the team and between players and supporters that others covet. Generating atmospheres in stadia that few can match.

Guided by a likeable head coach in Daniel Farke who made the right decision when the pressure was on most, changing the tactics and mood (Etihad, Nov 29) .

Good players like Gudmundsson and Ampadu stepping up, Calvert-Lewin getting back in England contention, Stach class.

A fully fit Stach would have helped against Wembley (arrived at the break) . An earlier tweak to 3-4-2-1 to combat Chelsea’s control and give DCL some support might have helped (Farke did go to a back-four at half-time but Chelsea closed down the game, including time-wasting and tactical time-outs) .

Leeds can still take pride in reaching the semi-final of the Cup, taking 34,000 to Wembley, and could easily have sold out the stadium on their own. That river of white and yellow flowing from all parts towards football's HQ confirmed the size of the club and the passion it stirs. Need to strengthen further in the summer, keep key players, and continue building. A bad day at Wembley, a missed opportunity, a sense of dismay, cannot slow Leeds United's revival.
