I've just read about our youth keeper Rory mahady was loaned for a game to Scunthorpe and he performed well.
Even got a standing ovation in the dressing room after the game for his performance.
I've not seen a lot of Rory as the youth games are not as well covered as they used to be but he seems a very talented and confident keeper.
Not the biggest lad probably more of a pickford type keeper. But I suppose being a keeper is such a long road to break into any first team. Still one to watch.

It was a nice read. Read it couple days ago. Glowing report from manager and nice players did that too. He must of been sooo proud.

10 Oct 2025 19:25:44
Unbelievable for a young player to get a standing ovation. He must have felt ten feet tall!
I find it really hard to judge young keepers when I watch them. So tough to project how they will progress.

You've got to give the smarts to Ange. Why bother winning games and having to work for his money. Why not lose them all. Work for three months and get paid for three years.

Agree4 Disagree0

10 Oct 2025 07:57:48
Genius Aus, but there’s also hold my beer Ange, Graham Potter, signing on bonus and 5 year deal going from Brighton to Chelsea, 3 year deal at Wet Sham, worked around a year for seven years income, nice work if you err don’t want to work for it.

10 Oct 2025 08:43:13
Ange Postecoglou could be sacked around the same time as Farke if results do not favour either coach, he plays our brand of football like Russell Martin, thoughts?

10 Oct 2025 10:58:25
Opti. Spoiler of a jovial post 😕
But seeing you bought it up.
No wins from next three and they gone. And forest got it tough.

10 Oct 2025 11:30:05
Graham Potter available also if offered the Leeds job, thoughts?

Nuno also possibly available in a few months when West Ham fans find out he’s too much like David Moyes, not our style of football but could be available by Christmas, thoughts?

10 Oct 2025 12:08:40
Thoughts OP - no and no in that order!

10 Oct 2025 19:28:58
Potter is a good coach but not for a team potentially fighting relegation. His ideas seem to take ages for the team to get used to.

10 Oct 2025 22:31:12
Just stick with Farke.

If he has been given a striker who could convert we would be in the top 4.

11 Oct 2025 01:32:30
Very true mot. Or at least euro spot.

11 Oct 2025 09:49:35
I'm guessing the tongue is partially in the cheek again there OP. Either way, I wouldn't touch either. If no one has patience for Farke, I dread to think of the clamour for sackings from day 1 of either of those!

11 Oct 2025 11:35:42
Indeed Bright, just testing what the general consensus is on here now concerning Farke. Seems to have gone quiet for the moment, but I image that’s only until we lose our next game.
I imagine by the end of November there’ll be several sackings going on and I’m certain that Farke will be one of the main contenders.
Not saying that because I want him sacked, on the contrary I want him to complete this season come what may.
But because we will in my opinion be batting at the bottom part of the league, for a number of Leeds fans I’m sure, it will not be satisfactory enough for them and they will be wanting Farke sacked.

A sense of entitlement perhaps? Maybe marginal survival is not acceptable also?

11 Oct 2025 12:08:24
It’s about his performance with what he has. Learning by his obvious errors and selection. If we lose lose lose and nothing changes. Damn right he should go. He was dealt a bad hand pretty much in window. Few Goods a few bads. But. He has to learn by his errors.

11 Oct 2025 17:26:36
How many games does he have to lose to go?
He’s won two drawn two and lost three, is that not enough loses already to be sacked?
How do you define lose, lose, lose? Is that three loses?
Don’t think he’s been dealt a bad hand, the club spent its maximum within PSR, we’ve beefed up the defense and midfield which was desperately needed.
We weren’t allowed to spend 200Mill on x amount of attackers and most of the players we’ve bought are adapting well and improving.
So I don’t see a bad hand being dealt!
If we lose against Burnley for example, should he be sacked?

09 Oct 2025 14:30:51
The Power of Positive Thinking has already been written Aus. 😉.

09 Oct 2025 10:43:57
Blimey, do I not like international breaks, very frustrating. Anyone know anything about publishing? Writing a book about Athelstan but there are a lot of vanity publishers out there!

{Ed001's Note - there is a poster called aoe on the Liverpool site who is a published author with a successful track record, he might be able to help you mate. My uncle has self-published some history books, he self-publishes and sells them when he gives talks about his subject, so it is possible to just self-publish and make a profit from it. Though he deliberately keeps his books small and light, so he can carry a bunch of them with him when he travels, so might not be relevant to what you are doing.}

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Oct 2025 11:20:42
Davey, does that mean you can't use your local anymore as you are a bard my friend? 🤣🤣🤣.

09 Oct 2025 11:11:58
Cheers Ed, this is a sort of fact fiction account of his reign centred around the battle of Brunanburh, it's probably only going to be a novella at most so quite small lol.

{Ed001's Note - are you intending to write more books afterwards?}

09 Oct 2025 11:56:35
Perish the thought Stevie, the pint is mightier than the pen😅🤣.

09 Oct 2025 12:04:05
That's a good question Ed, I started it during lockdown as I have an interest in that period of history and not so much is known. My thought on that is to then do an account of Edmund who fought with Athelstan at Brunanburh then succeeded him in 939.

{Ed001's Note - it makes sense to get a good publisher and relationship with them then, if you want to do more. If you are only intending to do one, or like my uncle in a position to pay all the associated costs up front and it is more of a hobby, then self-publishing would have been easier.}

09 Oct 2025 12:36:11
That is a very good point Ed. I guess the dichotomy there is to be accepted by a publisher it needs to be of a certain quality! Whether it is or not I have no idea 😆😅.

{Ed001's Note - do you have an editor and/or proof-reader?}

09 Oct 2025 12:44:40
I got nothing Ed, completely virginal, just an idea! I have sent samples to several publishers, one didn't want the genre and about 4 were interested, but mainly because they wanted £2,500 up front straight away 😅.

{Ed001's Note - I would worry about a publisher when it is written then mate.}

09 Oct 2025 12:52:54
Fascinating vid. Good job.
Been thinking of doing the same ( not same subject ) myself on retirement.

09 Oct 2025 12:59:16
Well done Vid, always tip my hat to historians, giving us mere mortals insights into times gone by

All the best pal, and hope it's a success for you.

09 Oct 2025 13:09:17
Well if you got an idea Aus do it! Big market for subjects people can relate to. Was talking to an ex miner who is writing about his career, especially the strikes, a sort of living recent history showing the industry from a workers view.

09 Oct 2025 13:58:02
Thank you Chris, yeah it's fascinating delving into our roots!

09 Oct 2025 14:15:23
Thanks vid. My subject very controversial. Moving on.
Hope you do well and as Chris says. Good to enjoy history. My fav subject at school as it happens. Nice to have a pastime and interest.

09 Oct 2025 17:07:53
As in the 1st true king of England? That Athelstan?

09 Oct 2025 17:30:14
Absolutely Bright, grandson of Alfred the Great, first King of England laid the foundations for parliament, created the first common currency ruling from 925 to 939, kicked the Danes out, never lost a battle. Alas died of dysentery so basically shat himself to death! Little is known because he was wiped from history by his successors after Edmund The Magnificent 939 to 946.

{Ed025's Note - you are either very well educated Vid...or a top googler.. :)

09 Oct 2025 17:41:03
Lol Ed, alas just an anorak about that period in history 😅.

{Ed025's Note - respect to you mate...i cant remember if i have put sugar in my tea..

09 Oct 2025 18:36:54
Ah alas poor Edmund was stabbed to death at the age of 25 by an known theif Leofa in his own court after trying to eject him. Tragic. But if you wanna know more you could read me book 😆😅🤣.

09 Oct 2025 19:57:26
Vid, KDP Kindle self publishing does everything for you and you keep 70% of the profit.

You just upload a pdf or word document and Amazon does the rest.

09 Oct 2025 22:15:54
Love fact fiction Vid. If you want a proof reader happy to do the job for free :)

09 Oct 2025 23:09:01
I was always a scientist rather than a history nerd (O level fail) so I'd never heard of that battle. I googled it, and found that whilst the battle location is unknown one of the most likely spots is at Barnsdale Bar near Pontefract where there's an old well head next to the A1 called Robin Hood's Well. I'm a Wakefield lad, and round here, many believe that Robin Hood (if he existed at all) hailed from this area, and the Nottingham story is rubbish.

09 Oct 2025 23:13:16
Lol cool Alf, give me your email an I will send you what I got! Thank you.

10 Oct 2025 09:05:02
I did my family tree a few years back. My dad's family were fair ground showman from Leeds and surrounding area.
It was interesting looking into social history and finding out stories surrounding the family. I have often thought it would be nice to write about it.
They say that everyone has a book in them.
Some times it's turns out just to be constipation!

10 Oct 2025 09:47:59
Let us know when it’s published and we will all buy a copy. Give you some coin.

10 Oct 2025 15:26:20
Interesting that you are passionate about King Aethelstan as it is something very similar with my passion of Viking history and culture.

Viking King Sitric of York had he not died shortly after marrying Aethelstans sister, history could have been very different for King Aethelstan.

10 Oct 2025 15:55:21
Good luck with the book Vid 👍 if you do get it published let us know, I’d be very interested.

10 Oct 2025 17:25:26
Vidlufc you should try Amazon they do all the donkey work for you.

08 Oct 2025 07:24:32
Love him or loathe him, Steven Gerrard has made some pretty telling comments about the "golden generation" of England footballers, labelling them all, and including himself, as "egotistical losers"!
Think he has hit the nail on the head with his insights, which is worth the quick 2min read on SSN. That team underachiever more than any in history, as there was enough talent there to win back to back trophies.
Some of the finger pointing should also be directed at the management of those eras, for failing to create a true "team" that bonded properly, that was probably the missing piece in enabling that talented group deliver the goods!

Agree3 Disagree0

08 Oct 2025 09:44:34
Agree mate,

That generation was ruined by club rivalry over country, egos and poor managers. Imagine what el tel or Bobby robson would of got out of these players.

I don’t rate southgate at all, awful manager who threw away a few golden chances of glory with a great squad. However what he did perfectly was create a club England and fair play to him for shifting that culture.

08 Oct 2025 09:45:50
I’m really confused Bright?

That lovely chap Gary Neville is highlighting the importance of being United, as one team.

And yet has boasted many times previously (now confirmed by Steven Gerrard) that even when they were playing for their country.

That Devon and Liverpool players would not even speak to each other and did not even try to hide their loathing of each other?

Not like Gary Neville to have made an error of judgement.

Qatar for now…….

08 Oct 2025 09:57:52
Yes bright I've heard a few different voices from that time saying the same thing. The players from different teams just didn't mix. Whether because of the big rivalry at the time with fergie and wenger etc.
I think there has been a lot of that in international football. Some great Dutch sides that never gelled and should have won more.
I think the drinking culture before brought Robsons and venables together. But the generation after that were moving in to the superfit sportsman mould.
They just didn't like or had been told not to or conditioned not to like each other.
Now football has completely gone the other way and player power means all the top players mix socially and have connections with each other outside of football.
Whether that is social media or gaming or all enjoying the lifestyle of the very wealthy.

08 Oct 2025 20:51:53
I always hated the expression 'the golden generation' which was totally inappropriately as they never won anything - they didn't get further than the quarter finals.

Totally overrated, totally underwhelming and I for one applaud Gerrard for calling them out for what they were!

09 Oct 2025 07:04:12
It does confirm that you can not create a great football team without team spirit. Top individual players they may have all been but without a bonding they will win nothing.
Whose fault was that? In my opinion I was everyone’s from the FA to the players themselves.

I guess that at some point after that hugely disappointing period there probably was a collective thought that the players needed bonding and I’m sure that was the main directive of Southgate’s tenure.
Although it appeared he achieved the target in bonding the players, it’s just a pity that he wasn’t a good footballing tactician as well as it looks like that was the missing ingredient to have won two trophies already.

09 Oct 2025 07:52:15
Agree on all points op.

09 Oct 2025 17:26:31
I prefer David James's response to Gerrards claim, that being, there were better teams than us playing at the same time. What's more, that is allowed.

From my own perspective, we have not had any real word class players [in abundance] for a while. Italy 90 was for me was the only team capable of winning the World Cup and the best since 1970, which arguably was a better team than 1966 [that match V Germany was the first time I saw my dad cry! ].

I'm not sure the current team / players have any better chance.

I appreciate Southgate [ I appreciate what he did] got us further than for a while, but our tournaments were scratchy and things went our way, when in the past they perhaps didn't.

09 Oct 2025 23:14:30
Individually they were all great players, but collectively a crap team.
I concur that Southgate was only a mediocre coach, but at least he was a good man manager, and created a team ethos that had been sadly lacking, and which hopfully continues today.

08 Oct 2025 07:26:24
Totally agree Corkey; a very insightful bloke, who would be great to have on our board in some capacity, tho I'm sure he gets plenty of offers!
Gotta say tho, I've missed what he's said this time!?

08 Oct 2025 09:24:07
Gary Neville Oz.

08 Oct 2025 09:25:55
Thought you were coming out but after googling it you prob mean you like the blokes radio show or whatever he does 👍.

I don’t know Simon personally but I am good mates with his mate nick Moran and nick said he is a top bloke and I am inclined to agree.

It's still there, and still very strong, but just competing in a different youth league structure! Plenty of info on the official site.

Fleetwood?

07 Oct 2025 10:39:41
Just to clarify jr. you posted that you'd accept 5 points from the next 5 games?
I know a point a game is generally enough. Is that why you said it?
We should focus on beating the teams below us and around us.
5 wins is admittedly unlikely but would expect 3 at least.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Oct 2025 12:32:20
Ah if only it were as easy as that Aus, trouble is it is not an exact science. Teams can play well and not be rewarded or vice versa! I would hope from these next five we can gain a decent haul, around 10 would be excellent 😁.

07 Oct 2025 13:32:23
Agree vid. Not a fair merry go round. But from what I’ve seen as said before. We are due some. So yep. Tbh happy with anything above 9. That should realistically be our goal.
Makes you wonder though. Does it really even itself out over a season.
Luck I mean.

07 Oct 2025 14:40:09
Does for me Aus regards luck…. I would say I’m a consistent 50/ 50 between, bad luck, and no luck at all.

07 Oct 2025 15:16:16
Funny class. You doing ok 👍
So realistically.
It’s just the last three pattern results. Cause first three predictable. Ish.
So we should get 5 points we don’t deserve in next 3-5 games. Looking forward to it.
Too long to wait though. Bloody wales and who? .
Bored already.
Any quizzes or funny jokes or vids. ?

07 Oct 2025 15:39:09
Yeah class it is somewhere between no luck and awful luck. Think the don was right about the gypsy curse.

07 Oct 2025 16:34:07
its a point per game averaged over the season so yes we need to beat teams around us to compensate for not expecting points against the better teams. I think we need to see 3/ 4 wins in the next 5 to do that. 5 points will probably not be enough in this run of fixtures.

07 Oct 2025 17:38:25
Looking for a laugh aus watch bermondsey tales, multi award million pound grossing comedy hailed by critics. Made for pennies so can be compared to the big blockbuster movies.

Comparing my films to guy ritichies is like comparing leeds to Man City, but like leeds pound for pound did pretty well.

07 Oct 2025 17:46:22
Concur Alf, trouble is it can be like being permanently at a cross roads, beat Burnley and momentum going into winnable games, lose and pressure is racked right up. Such a fine line between success and failure and getting on a run is vital, indeed you could say if we won all 5 it would all but secure our safety. I feel good about it though and I think we also may well surprise in the matches against Citeh, Chelski and Pool. UTWDTP it's going to be allwhite 😁.

07 Oct 2025 17:57:30
Is that Bermondsey Tales Fall of the Roman Empire Bermo?

07 Oct 2025 18:50:13
Yeah vid that, the last heist (terry stone, Emily Wyatt, Perry benson) and a gangsters kiss (saide frost, John hannnah matin Kemp) are the three films I’ve released to date.

Meeting across the river (Frank harper) is on YouTube I think but not sure if that’s a public or private release.

07 Oct 2025 19:42:10
Excellent mate! I used to have a pint or 2 wiv Geoff Bell in the KH in Deal, big Wall fan lol, decent geezer, told me some stories! When I met him he was doing Guy Ritchies King Arthur Legend of the Sword, got chatting and told him I had beenv doing am dram for 15 years, his last word was, of course Dave the difference between you an me is I am professional 😆😅 He has moved back to London now.

07 Oct 2025 19:45:47
Yeah I watched it on the train a while back.
Good script I thought but some proper ropey acting by some of the cast!
Seriously though it was fairly entertaining way to pass the time on my way back from Dublin.

07 Oct 2025 19:45:48
Aus -Saying I'd accept 5 doesn't mean I'd be happy with that. I originally had in my mind 10 points from the first 10 games or by Nov 1st.

07 Oct 2025 19:52:03
sorry pressed send too early
. games 11 and 12 (Forest and Villa) seemed more difficult so I added 1 each for them too. 15 would be fantastic to take into a run of 3 very difficult games (Man C, Chelsea, Liverpool) but 7-9 is a realistic ambition, and I'd be delighted with that. 🙂🙂🙂🙂🤞.

08 Oct 2025 06:55:09
Bermo for some reason failed to mention my critically acclaimed work as an extra in Gangsters Kiss and that our very own DJ (who hasn't posted for a while, c'mon DJ) appears in quite a few of them.

08 Oct 2025 09:51:18
Sorry alf of course got a large number of leeds fans and few from this site in there.

I’m meeting Geoff bell in a couple of weeks. Top bloke and great actor.

And thanks cork for supporting the film. Just to give context on my films. Last heist budget was around 60k I believe, meeting across the river 14k, bermondsey takes 250k.

Now guy ritchies snatch was 10 million back in 1996.

You spent ten million on a house in 1996 compare it to what you’d get spending 250k on a house in 2024?

Football is like films you have to consider spend when judging it. Gillingham can’t compete with Man City like my films can’t be compared to 98% of things you watch on telly.
