Best player in the first half. Very pleasant surprise; long may that continue!

05 Sep 2026 17:25:41
I agree. Was very surprised he started, but very glad he did. Had a very good game.
I know Bogle scored, but I think he needs to work on his defensive skills and staying on his 'kin feet, constantly falling over trying to con a free kick, and that puts us in danger!
Should have been 3-0 up before they turned up, but happy with a point based on the last 25 minutes.

Agree, MG!

With our given history of playing Brighton away, it would be reasonable to imagine that we probably won’t win today and even a draw would be a very good result.
We haven’t beaten Brighton away since our respective league one times with a 0-3 win and goals from Snodgrass, Beckford and Neil Kilkenny.

Their success in the Premiership, which has now been nearly 10 seasons, is a great testament to how, with respect, a small club can not only survive in the Premiership but quite notably, flourish, the players they have recruited and sold on for huge profits is astounding.

However I’m writing this post to not only praise Brighton's story but also ours. I do think this game today could be a measure of where we might be already in our progress in the best league in the world.

There’s a long way to go yet but breaking Brighton today at their ground will give the lads more belief of what they can achieve and where they are going with our club.

I’ll be very interested in how this game pans out, hopefully in a very positive way. I don’t think we will be so vastly outplayed like in that first half against Brentford. But having said that, Fabian Hurzeler‘s free flowing attacking football will cause us some problems. Just glad Wellbeck isn’t there anymore.

I’d like to think we can nick a win today but I suppose a draw would be good for us.
Pundits and bookies are having us to lose this game 2-0 or 2-1.

We’ll see!

Great post, Opti. 👏

Excellent post, Opti.

Unfortunately, not there today as away in France, but it was a very difficult watch sitting with some Brighton coaching mates last season as we put in a dire performance and simply didn't turn up on the day.

Saying that, this is a very different team, coached by a much wiser and astute Daniel Farke, and I honestly believe, with our best side out, we are now the equal of Brighton.

I think it will be a draw, but wouldn't be surprised to see us nick a 1-2 at the Amex.

Cracking post, OP. We already bust the Florist hoodoo, so let's hope we can do the same with Brighton. 😁

05 Sep 2026 11:46:36
Nice post, OP.

Previous 8 matches at Brighton total aggregate score Brighton 15 vs Leeds United 0.

It's the ground of all grounds that Leeds United have floundered this millennium.

All this, and we are without our Superman 🦸‍♂️ Mr Joe Rodon.

Logic Head says 1 nil, but hey, let's be optimistic, and we actually score a blooming goal there, so final prediction.

Brighton 1 vs Leeds 1. Dcl penalty.

05 Sep 2026 11:53:35
We walk away with at least a draw today! We can do this! Great post!

3

05 Sep 2026 12:11:40
My history of accurate predictions is piss poor, so all I'll say is that I can't see it being a high scoring game, and would not be surprised if it ends up nil nil.
So, go out and put a bet on 3:3.

3

05 Sep 2026 12:28:47
Or just back the draw, JR, then maybe we win. 😁

1

05 Sep 2026 12:38:42
I would take a draw today, but a win is long overdue!
Will have 1 eye on the Leeds game & the other on Wakey Trinity.. my niece's husband, Max, plays his last home game for Trinity; he's been there 13 years & he's moving to York!
Up The Whites Down The Pints. 💛💙🤍 & Up The Trin. ❤️🤍💙

2-0 for me, unfortunately.
On the upside. Newcastle look well beatable. Should be 1-5 down at half time. Bournemouth playing well, except their central mf, who is crap lol.
South Coast teams, eh. Doing well. Maybe my Canvey Island be in prem soon. 👍

Interesting perusing the markets. Was looking at the prices for the Golden Glove. Raya obviously is odds on favorite but JT is 66/1, a very big price given our defence! Donnarumma is 5/2, for instance. Is he and Citeh's defence that much better than us?

3

04 Sep 2026 15:08:50
Worth a penny vid. 👍

2

04 Sep 2026 15:21:31
Well, guess if you fancy us to keep a few clean sheets this season, could be Aus! 😆

1

04 Sep 2026 15:43:22
Have to consider the whole team, not just defence. Citeh's midfield will have so much ball, their defence will have less to do, so can be worse than ours and still concede fewer goals, I guess.

2

04 Sep 2026 16:05:25
66/1 with Bookies Davey should tell a seasoned flutterer such as you and I that Leeds United and Johnny Trafford won't be anywhere near it, so don't waste your coin. 🪙

Raya and Goooners likely to win it. Close second, Donna and Citeh. No one else close, imo.

3

04 Sep 2026 16:58:47
Prob right, Baz, but if you want a wild card bet maybe go for Martinez at Chelsea.

2

04 Sep 2026 17:10:42
Bloody hell, Baz and Canada. Bit of fun. Don't think penny will break vid.
And I'd put us top 7 defense, but until proven otherwise, bottom 7 attack.

2

04 Sep 2026 17:49:46
Well, JR, he already let 3 in the other day. Think Chelsea defence a bit suspect. JT already has 2 clean sheets, though 1 was in the cup, so don't count!

3

04 Sep 2026 18:59:53
Thanks for reminding me of that, Vid. Just shows that relying on me for accurate predictions is not a good idea.

Hearing that Rodon will be out for a minimum of 10 weeks for his hamstring injury.
We’ll definitely miss him but I’m also pretty confident we’ll cope without him for that period.

3

03 Sep 2026 18:01:47
I'd like to not rush him back and have him fully fit around the Xmas period, where fixtures get congested. A big miss as his tackles really get the crowd going.

4

03 Sep 2026 19:31:18
Farke said 8-10 weeks in his presser, and 3 or 4 of those are the international break.

3

03 Sep 2026 19:33:57
I believe Farke said 8-10 weeks OP.
I think Joe often gets back from injuries quicker than most, so hoping it's nearer to the 8 weeks timeframe.

3

03 Sep 2026 19:48:11
As Canada says, Rodon is a very quick healer.
Still, a big loss even if Elvedi or JJ will step in.

5

03 Sep 2026 20:27:25
Hopefully Rodon back in 6 to 7 weeks by end of October. Crucial player for Leeds United.

For me only DCL would be a bigger loss to the first team.

3

03 Sep 2026 21:17:04
I'd say DCL is a bigger issue, Baz.
Elvedi seems a good replacement to me so far, but I think, without DCL, our holdup play is very weak.

4

03 Sep 2026 21:46:25
I 100% agree, Canada, re Dcl. Without Dcl, it would be the biggest issue/problem for Leeds United.

But, after Dcl, Rodon would be the next most missed for me. I would prefer any other defender be out than Rodon.

3

03 Sep 2026 22:05:52
I'd have tended to agree on that, Baz, but so far, Muharemovic has looked like he could be our top man at the back. If he can make us all feel that way by the end of the season, we'll all be super happy!

3

03 Sep 2026 22:14:41
Yep, Canada. I agree, Tarek looks class.

And, Tarek may well, at some point, surpass how I currently feel about Rodon as our best defender.

2

04 Sep 2026 11:38:11
Rodon is apparently a quick healer, so, along with a big international break, he might not miss too many matches.

2

03 Sep 2026 14:04:42
Balogun in January for 25 million anyone?

1

03 Sep 2026 15:16:56
That's a no thanks from me, Frogus. Apparently something was picked up in his medical that made Everton renegotiate the transfer. He has been offered around and no takers, so it's too dodgy a risk, I reckon.

1

03 Sep 2026 19:32:18
Balogun himself turned the move down after the renegotiation was accepted.

0

03 Sep 2026 19:51:48
Not quite correct, Vid, apparently.
Everton were trying to get the price down by saying he had an injury of some sort. Then, when they tried to get Zirkee in, the lad, after being effed about for hours, told Everton to do one. At least this is what I was told.

4

04 Sep 2026 13:28:08
This is the story I read:
Whatever was found on his medical, it can't have been too serious, else Everton would not have been prepared to go ahead with the transfer. Everton re-negotiated the deal with Monaco, and, crucially, the player's agreed personal terms were unchanged.

He seemed to still be happy to go ahead, and, as all the paperwork couldn't be completed by the deadline, he signed the deal sheet along with the two clubs, and only later decided to walk out, effectively killing the deal. Why he did that, only he knows.

Stop it you lot. You’re getting me excited about Matteo. That’s not fair. Might have to upgrade to 8-10 window. As I said previously. Hope it’s our new Raph.

2

03 Sep 2026 11:36:34
Do not think it's just Bahoya to be excited about Aus. imo it's the best window we have had for many a year. You have to put it in context of where we are in our journey, so we can't compete with well established clubs paying eye watering amounts, offering Euro football, or attracting huge talents.

Our football succeeds in hard graft and teamwork. Having said that, there is no doubt we have bought real quality, and that, on top of what we already have, is very promising indeed. Everyone in our squad wants to be at Leeds and that is massive. Utwdtp to a thrilling season.

03 Sep 2026 11:44:12
Could have written all that myself! The voice of reason!

4

03 Sep 2026 13:27:20
I've already documented how pleased I am with initial signings, vid. Just commenting on the latter. Agree, starting 11 stronger than last season, which should always be the aim.

2

03 Sep 2026 14:22:53
Pressure is on Farke now to deliver. He's been given a pretty good first eleven / eighteen this seez.

3

03 Sep 2026 19:56:59
100% the pressure is on DF. To be fair to him, he was fairly cool last season when things were going a bit ropey. Most importantly, though, he seems to have a good bunch of high character players, which in my opinion is just as important as talent.

5

03 Sep 2026 20:33:27
Definitely, Corkey..

Farke needs a good 6 months of results to be offered an extension by Marathe, imo ..

Marathe and 49ers keeping their coaching options well and truly open moving forward into next seez and rightly so.

4

03 Sep 2026 21:24:02
imo one of the reasons we have been able to build sensibly over the last few windows is because we have a consistent, stable and level-headed coaching regime. Change your manager and the new bloke will want to bring in his own men and get rid of some of the existing, and that means a step backwards in terms of squad building. Yes, DF has to perform, but I (and I hope, believe the 49ers too) would be very loath to make a change of coach unless that underperformance is clear and obvious, and the squad togetherness is fractured, rather than the knee jerk reaction that many of the posters on here had last year, which would have seen DF fired and no doubt a dramatic overhaul of the squad rather than a deliberate and focused improvement window by window.

Feels like everybody is pulling in the same direction at the moment, and long may it continue rather than people losing faith at the first few losses which will inevitably happen at some stage.

5

03 Sep 2026 21:50:35
It's a fair point, Matt, re stability..

But, we shall see what happens.

A very good or at least solid September, October and November needed imo.

3

03 Sep 2026 22:04:30
Ah, excited that Mateo Joseph has been given a squad number, eh, Aus? Don't forget he is out injured until around January.

1

04 Sep 2026 01:09:25
All good, Alf. Note the extra t.

1

04 Sep 2026 09:16:44
Two or three negative results in a row will get the Farke out banners swinging on here. You can count on that.
That said, the pressures on him (Farke) already are teeing it up for a pile-on as soon as a few bad results come our way, and they will.

The only reason Farke will get the sack is if we are free falling and in the relegation zone, which is unlikely unless we have numerous long-term injuries to key players.
Fans' great expectations for this season should be calmed a little also.
"You can't run before you can walk."

To finish where we did last season, or a position higher, is still good as far as I'm concerned as we stabilize the club into the Premiership.

Making unnecessary comments like "the pressure is on him now" is not welcomed, as far as I'm concerned. Why would you invite "unnecessary" pressure and anxiety on your own club?

Nothing surprises me in football anymore, and the outrageous and unrealistic demands some fans, not to mention some club owners, have on their managers, with the unprecedented number of sackings in recent times as proof.

Nothing good comes out of impatience in football, especially when the signs are positive, no matter how small they may be.

2

04 Sep 2026 16:06:28
Very much a signature OP post. 😆

2

04 Sep 2026 18:36:19
You bet Baz, I feel very disenchanted with certain aspects of football today, and I worry for the game that so many of us love.

And yes, I am a big Farke fan.

2

04 Sep 2026 18:41:55
Fair enough, OP. 👌
