Once the season over reckon we need to run an in house World Cup comp. Maybe predicting last 4 winner and top scorer.
Be nice to see a newbie win it tbh but can't really see one strong enough.

06 May 2026 12:06:36
As soon as I back anyone to win, it will be the kiss of death for them, so at the moment I'm tipping "anyone except England".

2

06 May 2026 13:04:09
I didn't repost that. Don't know why it showed up twice. Will check if you entered and let you know, Jr.

Might be worth putting some of the closest predos out there as I don't imagine many had Sunderland not in the relegation zone.

Matchday 35 - Quick Round Up

{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Matchday 35 - Quick Round Up

If, the CBs are pretty much guaranteed then do we spend/ gamble big to oust an incumbent or maybe save a couple of quid and buy an experienced back up?
How about a move for Tyrone Mings?
A left footed CB, ex England with a contract expiring 2027 and valued at only 4million.

3

05 May 2026 19:41:36
I don't think we need to spend big on a CB, assuming we keep all our regular first choices, so buying an experienced backup like Mings could be good business. I really like Senesi at Bournemouth, but he's more likely to be looking for a big name club and be more like Β£20-30M.

If Wet Sham go down, there's likely to be a bit of a fire sale there, and whilst all the noise will be around Bowen and Somerville, I rather like Castellanos. They paid Β£25M for him in Jan, and if we could land him for something near that he could be just what we need.

I think we need to be fairly careful. The medical staff have done a superb job keeping the team healthy overall - our squad has missed the fewest matches this season to injury (77 apparently) . Testament to medical, Farke's formation, and some luck there too.

With approx 120m to spend (net in Reading) , we do need some more depth. Also, don't be fooled that there won't be some bids for our better players. Struijk has had some interest, no doubt Gabby will too. Not that we want to sell, but we want to be ready to be able to if silly money came in.

That's how Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth have been so successful.

Mings, for me personally, is too big a name, and on too big a decline to warrant looking at seriously. I'd prefer to look at Doekhi or Adam Webster, who are both out of contract. Webster, admittedly, is on the back of an ACL.

Ben Davies, another we've been linked with for a while - he'd be a Byram upgrade/replacement as an emergency. I'd want another left back (Gabby clone) and allow Justin/Bogle to lock down right back.

1

05 May 2026 20:42:56
Please, not Mings. A terrible defender, and gradually getting worse.

1

05 May 2026 21:01:43
Senesi is a free transfer.

2

05 May 2026 23:14:04
Allegedly, Senesi has already verbally agreed a deal with Spuds, subject to their PL survival, but Liverpool and Juventus are looking to hijack it, so he's probably a non starter. I'd certainly prefer Doekhi or Webster to Mings. Agreed, Ealing, we need to be prepared for offers for a number of our players, and deal with them appropriately.

My shopping list would be a backup LWB, a RW (Wilson?) , a GK unless we retain both Darlow and Perri, a CB (assuming Bornauw is going) , and a decent striker (say Castellanos if Sham are relegated) .

2

06 May 2026 08:21:46
Castellanos is a good shout tho, Jr! He was excellent against us, and I believe he'd be a solid addition without breaking the bank.

1

06 May 2026 10:57:46
I've been impressed with Mavropanos since Nuno arrived at West Ham, and would take him as competition for our core CBs, who have all had an excellent season and have probably attracted interest elsewhere.

3

06 May 2026 11:19:51
Mavropanos is a great shout.

2

06 May 2026 11:37:00
Yep, that fella too!

Good idea, Aus Meister! Do you also still have everyone's pre season top and bottom guesses too? Can't for my life remember mine! πŸ€”πŸ˜‚

2

05 May 2026 12:56:28
Found out this week I'm going to the Ghana Panama game. Not the biggest game, but for free I'll take it!

6

05 May 2026 13:04:23
Still got em, Bright. Results very soon. The one that sticks out as humumgouslsly wrong is Alfs. But, anyway. All revealed soon, chaps.
Good luck, Canada. Could be a cracker. Prefer watching the no chances as they go at it. Better than boring won it before teams.

2

05 May 2026 13:53:07
Aus, I couldn't be happier if my prediction proves to be wrong. In fact, I'm almost 100% sure it will be wrong, as I think I said 19th, which is probably impossible now (thankfully) .

3

05 May 2026 13:58:23
Yep. Alf, you nailed it. 35 games gone. Good job.

4

05 May 2026 17:00:46
This shows why I don't bet on the footie, Aus!

3

05 May 2026 17:12:36
Come in Aus, stop teasing. πŸ˜›

2

05 May 2026 23:20:28
Don't think I made a prediction, Aus. I rarely do. My hope was we'd reach 10 to 15, so if we stay where we are, I'll be happy, but I'd never have made a prediction as that would've been the kiss of death.

2

06 May 2026 08:27:41
I know what you're saying there, Jr!
I think we were just having our own guesses at top3 and bottom 3 for a laugh, rather than all important and consuming "predictions". Are you sure you didn't throw anything in there? I'm sure most did?

1

06 May 2026 11:24:38
I currently got 1 to 20 in the correct order. The prediction of all predictions.. Pinky promise.. Especially for Brighty, as we know he lurves a prediction. πŸ˜‰

3

06 May 2026 11:37:33
Lol, Baz!

2

06 May 2026 12:12:33
Well, Baz, in the words of the great Chris, that's unbelievable, Jeff! Though I did, at the start of the season, recommend Wet Spam at 6/1 to be relegated.

3

06 May 2026 12:22:46
Brighty, my "guesses" at the time were that Liverpool would be top again, followed by Man C, that Arsenal would bottle it again, and Man U finish about 6 or 7. At the bottom, I thought the 3 promoted would all go back down - yes, us included, but I hoped I was going to be wrong. Now you see why I'm not a tipster.

3

06 May 2026 13:06:45
Pretty sure only Alf predicted Leeds down. Will post them all tomorrow. Ish.

What a disgrace of a Club, Team Chelsea are these days, stealing a living, and only turning up to play when there’s a trophy on the line, hope fellow cheaters Citeh smash them in the FA Cup.

7

04 May 2026 19:30:21
Clubs don't win trophies with that policy in football class.
Still sticks in my throat that we didn't beat Cheatski.
Looking forward to us thrashing them again at Elland Rd. next season.

4

05 May 2026 01:11:22
Chelski are only 5pts ahead of us with 3 games to go. We may yet overtake them.

6

05 May 2026 08:17:46
Wouldn't that be fantastic, JR. Six straight losses in the league for Cheatski now, bottom of the form table, and away at Liverpool next.

2

05 May 2026 08:45:37
And long may it continue.

2

05 May 2026 12:39:17
That would be so funny, JR!

1

05 May 2026 16:10:34
Chelski's performance yesterday was as bad as Villa's on Sunday. Gift wrapped 3 points for the opposition.

2

04 May 2026 17:04:06
Well Villa and Chelsea have done us no favours. Let's hope Arsenal don't bottle it at Spam otherwise it's going to get messy.

5

04 May 2026 17:35:16
Chelsea and Villa can't stand them.

Next week I am a Goooonners fan ..

5

04 May 2026 17:36:29
It's going to be fine, Prime. Forest still below us, and they still have Newcastle, Devon and Bournemouth to play.

For me, West Ham are done!

4

05 May 2026 04:50:15
Yep. Be surprised if Mr Summerville isn't playing champ football again next season. With City drawing, will give Gunners the boost to go for jugular v spam.

2

05 May 2026 16:12:58
Yes, my only time supporting Arsenal for 90 mins next Sunday. It would be good going to Spurts on Monday knowing we are mathematically safe.

2

04 May 2026 16:36:22
Well, doesn't look like Forest are too worried about Thursday, karma coming for Vile hopefully. It is one of life's beautiful ironies that all those Spam fans, who have been rather derogatory about us, next Monday are gonna be Leeds supporters. All love to hate us, but occasionally, they hate to love us. We win for nobody except ourselves, suck it up sausages.

6

04 May 2026 17:39:23
We got a pretty bad recent record at Spuds.

With the recent Spuds momentum, they will be favourites to beat us and then Chelsea, imo.

We are really relying on Goonners beating West Ham.

5

04 May 2026 17:57:19
Lol Baz, I do have to wonder sometimes if some on here have any faith in our boys, we aint relying on anyone except ourselves. We had a bad record at OT, did we not?

7

04 May 2026 18:04:45
Very true, Davey, about our record at OT, and our very welcome, pleasant, surprising win there this season.

I hope we smash Spuds. Another pleasant surprise.

5

04 May 2026 18:06:40
Vidlufc, me old mate. Some just see it a different way, perhaps. We think more than some, who knows. It's all fun being a Leeds supporter. πŸ˜„

9

04 May 2026 18:12:29
Baz, Spurs have a terrible record against Chelsea with one win in 88 games, or thereabouts.

4

04 May 2026 19:04:05
1 win in 88, Corky???

Chelsea defo have a good record vs Spuds in past ten games..

But would you bet on this current Chelsea side to beat Spuds or any side for that matter. πŸ€”

And correct stats are:
H2H 180 matches.
Chelsea have won 82 matches.
Spuds have won 55 matches.
Draw 43 matches.

4

04 May 2026 20:51:26
Last thirty games, Chelsea have won 18 and Tottenham 5. Nuff said.

3

04 May 2026 21:05:52
Cork, got a feeling Baz wants Spurs to avoid relegation and beat us on the way also!
Wtf.

7

04 May 2026 22:09:43
Not at all, OP! I hope we smash Spuds!

7

05 May 2026 07:41:46
Well, it's unlikely we'll smash them, Baz, since, as you've already posted, we are not favorites and can't win in London. Let's hope for a miracle then.

4

05 May 2026 08:04:34
Hope vs expectation.

4

05 May 2026 13:59:04
We aren't doing all that badly ourselves for momentum, Baz.
