We deserved a draw today but in the end you can see that money talks. We played pretty well overall but hadn't the quality to transfer our god play into goals. We restricted them to just a few chances but they still managed to score twice. I like DCL ability in the air and link up play but a finisher he is not. Aaronson is quick and nippy and has skill bu the lacks balance and body strength and gets knocked off the ball easily. Compare that with some off the possessional play showed by the Spurs players. Time and again we had two or three players jostling a diminutive opponent who still had the strength and balance to hold the ball and drive through. Its a testament to our defensive organisation that we still restricted them to just a few chances. However, I was just berating DCl for failing to to hit the target when give a gift when we made a mistake at the other end and did exactly the same. The frustration was although we created many more chances we still came away with nothing. Labouring a point that I have made about 'lower order' teams - they tend to drop points in the last few minutes but fail to save points when given the chance. We often came away with points by scoring late when we were bossing it in the championship so far we have lost 3 points in the last few minutes and failed to convert chances to save them at the death. Its a common thread when teams play reasonably well but still flirt with relegation. However well you are organised you need quality finishers/ predators up front to make it count. That is what we haven't got at least till January at the earliest. Even so a good performance today. We should have come away with more.

Thought it was a pretty even game all up. I genuinely believed we would get an equaliser.

We’ll get enough points if we continue to play like that.

In the end, our two deflections went against us, whilst theirs allowed their keeper to get a toe on it.

I know we were at home, but we didn’t look out of our depth at any time. It’s hard to judge how good this Spurs team is, but we more than matched them.

Harsh outcome (again) , but we’re going to click sooner than later.

Some bemoan no striker, I get that but look at the strikers being brought, arsenal, Newcastle, Man Utd and Liverpool all improved fire power but at what cost where these players?

Strikers ain’t cheap and gems are hard to find otherwise everyone would be getting them.

Dcl has scored one which for the price ain’t bad so far that’s my point.

We're a newly promoted team holding off one of the big six while a ref tried his hardest to give them the game.

We made a few mistakes, but going toe-t-toe with the big guns is good to see.

We can't win them all and we were strapped by lack of attacking options.

I've defended arronson in the past but he was pretty poor today. Gave the ball away too many times.

Bogle RW and JJ RB if James/ Gnonto aren't played.

Yes it was another frustrating game we SHOULD have won. But you know? That we're even talking about how we should have won against the top dogs is some place to be. Certainly beats getting steamrolled in every game.

I said to the Mrs to put Bogle right wing and Justin at RB .
Don’t think Struijk covered himself in glory either, time to get Bijol a start.
Yes we’ve arguably been the best team in the last 2 games but ultimately we’ve taken 1 point from 6.
Individual mistakes get punished at this level.

Struijk not at fault for 2nd goal, it was Gudmonsson who messed up.
Two unlucky deflections today. His passing was a lot better than last game.
Bijol has only played once and was poor, hopefully when needed that wasn't a fair reflection of his ability.

Best thing is we are talking fine margins. While that is frustrating that is promising and makes me think we are not relegation fodder.

I remeber not too long ago when we was getting thrashed every week and the margined were far from fine, that’s when we need to worry.

Dave you said that to your Mrs. I’ve been harping on here for weeks now about moving JB into right advanced position and JJ into right back. Clearly DF doesn’t read our posts. I like pascal but was he just unlucky not blocking both or one of their goals, or is it that he is lacking in agility and speed? Am I the only one who thinks Rodon missed a complete sitter? I know that the keeper came out flapping, but keep your eye on the ball and it’s an open goal. Same with DCL’s missed chances last week, if we give opposition those chances, including Rodon’s missed header today, they always seem to put them away.

It’s strange that we paid up Pats contract, did not resign Manor bought two extra centre backs, and obviously do not think Joel is good enough to lead, and DCL is clearly short of confidence in front of goal.

That aside, probably could not ask more in terms of effort from the boys today, and we gave them one hell of a game, two deflections and with the likes of Kudus they just that little bit more in terms of quality in their squad just now, not surprising given our relevant recent histories.

If we can play to that level every week then I see us being more than safe this season, but hopefully we can uncover a goal scoring rough diamond in January (there’s some in the championship) as it would be very welcome.

Obviously my brother is gloating from his holiday in Portugal but so a Spuds season ticket holder just said Bournemouth and ourselves were far and away spuds toughest opponents season to date.

Much to be positive about for me.

One thing on. bamford though, I love him but he didn’t score for over a year in the best team in championship he was never a prem striker now.

Dcl scored one already linking up play, making good runs and causing a nounsense of himself

Let’s not write dcl off yet and let’s not forget how bad bamford was recently.

Wasn’t saying keep bam bam Berm, thought we could have sold bam bam, Piroe, even Largir and not signed Bornauw and put all eggs in basket for a top striker but appreciate it’s easier said than done especially Patrick’s salary and isn’t it easy in hindsight.

I’d go after Hagi Wright in January if Coventry willing to sell think he’s capable at higher level and reminds me of Watkins at Villa.

Thomas-Asante or Monga great wide options too imo.

Tough one to take today.
Spurs have a squad miles better than ours.
We’ve pushed them all the way today, we all know we lack quality in the final 3rd.
That’s the only real difference between the teams today, Struijk has to do better for both goals, maybe time to start Bijol after the international break.
I kind of get the frustration with DCL, but neither Nmecha or Piroe would get those chances as neither would be in those positions.
2 deflections = 2 goals but those are the margins in this league.
We need a win again soon just to pick the lads up.
