Rodrigo is a great footballer although not a great goal scorer which is what I feel we needed . I also think he's a bit of an ego / vanity signing . Ok MB loves him and Orta and Radz can please him and show the world they can bring in a marquee signing . But I can't help feeling that the likes of Watkins, Origi or Edouard would have been more sensible long term signings at our stage of development. Guys who could fit into the Bielsa system, score goals and be worth potentially much more than we paid for them in a few years time . Rodrigo is knocking on 30 and will be worth next to nothing towards the end of his 4 year deal . Furthermore, if he doesn't work out we will be saddled with his £100 k a week wages . The others would have been on around half that . Be that as it may I think Rodrigo will make us stronger and the capture of Koch is great news . Phil Hay is suggesting that MB is coming round to the idea of signing two CB's which is a relief and with an attacking midfielder / winger to follow, we will be well set for a mid table finish .

Origi yes, but as I think you would agree has a big tendency to just disappear and his overall goal tally ain't the May West either, hence he being moved along soon I feel .
Rodri has played in the berna + nou camp regularly has big match experience and is a Spanish international .
Yes he's 30, but let's not attach that age to over the hill just yet, players are far more entuned into sport science +longevity nowadays .
Lets just be happy Radz has payed the going rate for big players now, and let's not look for the flaws of the lad so soon, let's accentuate the pros,

Rumors of LB needed, Bryan and rose are the 2 options. I would prefer Rico Henry, looks a very good player. Sell Douglas and alioski to get funds, maybe offer brentford Douglas plus cash?

If we signed Henry then I’d be convinced that Douglas would be sold and Leif Davis loaned out . We would keep Alioski as he is versatile and can play left wing also and the same with Dallas, he would play anywhere Bielsa asked him to.

I’d probably tend to agree our budget seems to be spent .
Although we did make 15 mil from shirt sale already I’m not sure if that means anything. I think knowing Bielsa he will make do with cooper and Koch at CB knowing very well Ayling Strujk And Phillips can all fill in if needed . Defensive mid worries me a little bit if we are missing Phillips . Strujk can fill in but it’s an area I’d like to strengthen possibly.

I see what you may be provoking Dougie, he is a player that didn’t shine when he was on loan for a short period at Bolton, if it’s Prem experience you may be eluding to.
He was being managed by Owen Coyle.
This is Marcelo Bielsa and a different brand of football. He has banged in plenty of goals at his time at Benfica and especially at Valencia. He is more than capable of scoring 20+ in the Prem. Considering what is available and what we can afford not forgetting who would want to play for Leeds Utd, I can’t see many better players than Rodrigo all considering. Good business as far as I’m concerned.

I got very anxious the Rodrigo deal would fall through at last minute but glad he has signed . We needed that, hopefully a couple more through the door especially central defenders .
I think with Costa Hernandez and Harrison and bamford Rodrigo and Roberts fighting for a place it's going to a good front 4.

I know little about most of the players signed, beyond what I read here and elsewhere, but I think I am beginning to see a strategy.
Limited investment in players "for now", with the aim of it being enough to keep us in the top flight.
Greater investment in younger players that are highly regarded and seem to have a lot of potential. The idea being some may be able to help out this season, but all will form the backbone of a top team in a couple of years.
I actually don't mind this as a strategy.
Maybe I have missed the announcement, but my only concern remains the absence of a signature from El Loco.
{Ed0666's Note - I would try and guarantee premiership status with ready made legit ballers then supplement it with youth. But Biesla knows best and I can’t wait for his post match interviews. He makes Mourinho look dull.

Bamford will start and I admire his work rate but I’m hoping that rods knocks him off his perch with goals. And Koch will go straight in I think.

Banking on young players coming good is fair enough but it is important that they reach their potential. As we showed last year a lot of them don't and that's where the plan can be flawed.

The youth players we have signed this season are of a better standard and likely to be able to more quickly be able to train and play with the first team.
That said it remains crucial we sign a proven natural goalscorer 20 goal a season guy for us to not only dominate games but more importantly win games
we do not want deja vu of the Arsenal game result of last season.

We are definitely not finished with those two. Kinnear stated two weeks ago, that we planned to spend between 75 and 100mill this window. Felipe next, and another winger / creative midfielder after. Then, we’ll be the finished article, and not to to “survive” in the PL, but to take some sides to pieces, and show the PL up for what it really is! I’m so optimistic on a hungover Saturday morning! Lol!
