Happy with the point pre game not so much post game.

Today was a day where the strategy of not buying a striker was laid bare.

On another day we were home with 3 points after 40 mins.

Also I think Danny got subs wrong today.

Brighton couldn't have made it any clearer; they were growing back into the game 2nd half, yet we held off too much making changes this week.

Win some.
Draw some.
Lose some.

But I felt we should have won that.

Clearly, I disagree, Chris, as my post below was submitted before yours. But I do love your posts and respect your opinion.

What subs would you have done then? I thought Okafor was done and had to come off. I thought Stach looked knackered too. I would have gone Wilson for Stach, and either Bagoya, James, or Nmecha for Okafor.

I like that he was at least proactive. He made changes well before they equalised. They might not have worked, but he saw what was happening and tried to react. Brighton are a good team, and sometimes you can't counteract the momentum?

100% agree, Chris.

Give me a quality £45 million striker over a £45 million keeper.

Also, not sure how much we will see our new signing, left winger Bahoya, on the pitch.

But, still, a point at Brighton is solid.

I'm beginning to form an impression, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Baz has a problem with James Trafford and his fee.
Villa bought Jackson and Abraham for silly money, and they are both very poor.
Who should we have signed, Baz, and were you happy with Perri in sticks?

5

05 Sep 2026 19:56:03
I'm with you, Staffs. I think Trafford is the best £40m we have ever and will ever spend. A quality goalie far transcends anything a cf could do. I reckon Trafford has already gained us massive points. Could have lost all three of those games with a numpty like Darlow (MU reserve keeper) in goal.

6

05 Sep 2026 19:57:31
Perri? .lol nah, of course not.

But Darlow was fine, never let Leeds down. Leeds should have done more to keep him.

And, there are plenty of other reasonable priced, dependable gks out there.

I would much rather we spent £45 million to £50 million on an exciting striker.

I miss an exciting Leeds team. It needs a Yebaoh, Viduka, Charles, Clarke type, etc. More excitement, more goals scored please!

I probably didn't articulate my point well enough, Matt. I just felt the timing was a little longer than I would have preferred, as Brighton started to come into it towards the end of the 1st half.

Also, I may have tried Sean, due to the hold they had in midfield in the 2nd half. I wouldn't have played Baracus, as we know there's nothing really happening there other than aimless running.

I would have tried Bahoya, he's playing in the Bundesliga, he's fit, he's looking to make an impression from the off.

But I do concede Danny has changed for the better in respect of his substitution timings.

Still happy with our start, we are a tough nut to crack nowadays, it seems.

05 Sep 2026 20:08:34
Matt,

So, of the matches Darlow played last season.. Feel free to itemise the matches of goals he should not have conceded!

3

05 Sep 2026 20:54:59
Baz you are a proper nugget.

Trying to pretend Darlow is fit to lace Traffords boots. Pointless trying to rationalise with you mate.

Go back to you your happy haze with Claudia Shiffer, Cameron Diaz and a box of tissues.

4

05 Sep 2026 22:06:00
I love the cereal Golden Nuggets, Matt. Remember them? Maybe you are too young to know them.

Come on, Matt, you can do better.

Of course JT is better than KD. He blooming well should be costing £45 million pounds more.

The point is, I would prefer KD and a Mark Viduka type up front in preference to just blooming James Trafford.

3

05 Sep 2026 23:07:23
Baz, mate, he made too many silly mistakes, and you will see that when he plays for the other club; he was just as bad for his country. He did make some good stops, but our keeper is top class, and you need that when you are building from the back. I do agree we also need a striker.

3

06 Sep 2026 00:22:52
Whitey, the thing is, no one, including Matt, can list any goals that Darlow should not have conceded last season.

Anyways, it is what it is.

Which £45m striker do you want? Woltermarde - whoops that didn't work out so well - pardo Fernandez - really? Delap £50m. You know what. I would rather wait for our utterly useless pathetic out of his depth underwood turn up what he can.

Check back in your posts you will find out that these are two of the worst windows in our history and Underwood is the worst dof in history. You might want to say sorry to him by the way, because he is well on the way to becoming an unseen Leeds legend.

2

06 Sep 2026 00:38:48
Matty.. nope, I rated this window a pretty good 8/10. Not sure about Underwood being a legend. Steady fella. 😆

05 Sep 2026 17:13:13
Team and squad both much stronger than last season. But also manager much stronger too. Very proactive today with his changes. They might or might not have worked and you might or might not agree with them, but he was proactive making two changes when he saw Brighton get on top and was making another two changes, both before Brighton got their equaliser.

Last year, I think he would have stuck with it until they scored and then panicked. I like this more proactive Farke.

2

05 Sep 2026 19:23:41
Agree, Farke seems to be more proactive and more confident.. due to him probably feeling there is less chance of Leeds United being in an R scrap.

But Farke's subs today, imo, made us a bit worse and cost us 2 points.

2

05 Sep 2026 20:01:21
What amazing subs would you have made, Baz, that would have saved the day? 🤣

2

05 Sep 2026 22:10:49
Your opinion Baz but that's just complete tripe that Farke's sub choices cost us three points.
Sorry fella but you're so far off it.

3

06 Sep 2026 00:28:59
Err, you mean 2 points, OP (not 3) .

As for the subs, Leeds lost forward momentum, threatened far less, and looked less composed when Bijol and BA came on for Bogle and Okafor.. We conceded just 10 minutes later, and could have lost late on.

And, do feel free, OP, to not always don your very parochial "Farke Can Do No Wrong" hat. 😉

06 Sep 2026 06:26:57
Our players not hitting the target, or being offside, was the reason we didn’t claim all three points. But you can’t fault the players for their effort. It was a brave and hard-fought game by the team.
Farke does make some wrong decisions in games occasionally, like all managers, but they weren’t in this game. He set the team up well and made earlier substitutions than normal when needed, which most complain about, like you, as they can be with too little time left to make any change to the game.

Okafor can’t play more than sixty minutes, he runs out of steam, and Bogle had to come off for Bijol as their attacks were becoming more intense and we needed more solidity in defense.

I thought Yalcouye was really good for them, and he consistently broke our ranks.
They had a lot of corners in that game, and I felt it was only a question of time before one of their attackers was going to nail it.

Pointing out Farke as the reason we didn’t win is only based on weak, agenda-ridden stubbornness and a personal dislike without any good reason.

06 Sep 2026 13:29:29
Your views on Farke are well established, OP. We agree to disagree on it.

05 Sep 2026 17:12:56
The ref was disgraceful, it was possibly the worst piece of referring I have ever seen. Watch the highlights and see for yourself, but the result based on play was fair.

4

05 Sep 2026 15:49:09
Excellent first half. 👏👏👏👏

2

05 Sep 2026 14:03:17
I for one is very optimistic that we can pull 0-1 today. Well I was until is see AT in midfield 🤦‍♂️ Oh well it’s can only get better.

05 Sep 2026 14:27:40
Why is Ao starting?

0

05 Sep 2026 14:53:53
Why is Bijol not starting?

2

05 Sep 2026 15:04:57
Bijol is often substituted by Daniel Farke. Not sure he's fully trusted as yet, but I think he's been brilliant for us after a difficult start.

Possibly due to Brighton not playing a big guy up top today, we will see.

1

05 Sep 2026 15:46:23
Aren't we glad Tanaka started!?

5

05 Sep 2026 15:56:47
It was an interesting team selection, but for the first half it has been very effective.

1

05 Sep 2026 15:59:10
I'm at the game. We well deserve the scoreline, and the ref lives in Brighton by the look of his decisions.

3

05 Sep 2026 16:05:18
Another joker ref!

2

05 Sep 2026 17:48:26
Farke's face, a few times, showed what he thinks of Atwell.

1

05 Sep 2026 14:02:05
Tanaka again from the start? Really?

1

05 Sep 2026 15:50:37
Be grateful.

Best player in the first half. Very pleasant surprise; long may that continue!

1

05 Sep 2026 17:25:41
I agree. Was very surprised he started, but very glad he did. Had a very good game.
I know Bogle scored, but I think he needs to work on his defensive skills and staying on his 'kin feet, constantly falling over trying to con a free kick, and that puts us in danger!
Should have been 3-0 up before they turned up, but happy with a point based on the last 25 minutes.

2

05 Sep 2026 17:30:13
Agree, MG!

05 Sep 2026 18:03:22
Should of been 3 up, but kind of happy we didn't lose.. Game of 2 halves!. 💙🤍💛

With our given history of playing Brighton away, it would be reasonable to imagine that we probably won’t win today and even a draw would be a very good result.
We haven’t beaten Brighton away since our respective league one times with a 0-3 win and goals from Snodgrass, Beckford and Neil Kilkenny.

Their success in the Premiership, which has now been nearly 10 seasons, is a great testament to how, with respect, a small club can not only survive in the Premiership but quite notably, flourish, the players they have recruited and sold on for huge profits is astounding.

However I’m writing this post to not only praise Brighton's story but also ours. I do think this game today could be a measure of where we might be already in our progress in the best league in the world.

There’s a long way to go yet but breaking Brighton today at their ground will give the lads more belief of what they can achieve and where they are going with our club.

I’ll be very interested in how this game pans out, hopefully in a very positive way. I don’t think we will be so vastly outplayed like in that first half against Brentford. But having said that, Fabian Hurzeler‘s free flowing attacking football will cause us some problems. Just glad Wellbeck isn’t there anymore.

I’d like to think we can nick a win today but I suppose a draw would be good for us.
Pundits and bookies are having us to lose this game 2-0 or 2-1.

We’ll see!

Great post, Opti. 👏

Excellent post, Opti.

Unfortunately, not there today as away in France, but it was a very difficult watch sitting with some Brighton coaching mates last season as we put in a dire performance and simply didn't turn up on the day.

Saying that, this is a very different team, coached by a much wiser and astute Daniel Farke, and I honestly believe, with our best side out, we are now the equal of Brighton.

I think it will be a draw, but wouldn't be surprised to see us nick a 1-2 at the Amex.

05 Sep 2026 10:49:50
Cracking post, OP. We already bust the Florist hoodoo, so let's hope we can do the same with Brighton. 😁

3

05 Sep 2026 11:46:36
Nice post, OP.

05 Sep 2026 11:48:00
Previous 8 matches at Brighton total aggregate score Brighton 15 vs Leeds United 0.

It's the ground of all grounds that Leeds United have floundered this millennium.

All this, and we are without our Superman 🦸‍♂️ Mr Joe Rodon.

Logic Head says 1 nil, but hey, let's be optimistic, and we actually score a blooming goal there, so final prediction.

Brighton 1 vs Leeds 1. Dcl penalty.

05 Sep 2026 11:53:35
We walk away with at least a draw today! We can do this! Great post!

3

05 Sep 2026 12:11:40
My history of accurate predictions is piss poor, so all I'll say is that I can't see it being a high scoring game, and would not be surprised if it ends up nil nil.
So, go out and put a bet on 3:3.

3

05 Sep 2026 12:28:47
Or just back the draw, JR, then maybe we win. 😁

1

05 Sep 2026 12:38:42
I would take a draw today, but a win is long overdue!
Will have 1 eye on the Leeds game & the other on Wakey Trinity.. my niece's husband, Max, plays his last home game for Trinity; he's been there 13 years & he's moving to York!
Up The Whites Down The Pints. 💛💙🤍 & Up The Trin. ❤️🤍💙

2-0 for me, unfortunately.
On the upside. Newcastle look well beatable. Should be 1-5 down at half time. Bournemouth playing well, except their central mf, who is crap lol.
South Coast teams, eh. Doing well. Maybe my Canvey Island be in prem soon. 👍
