Leicester's appeal against the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability charge has been rejected by an independent commission.

The commission has ruled the top flight can punish the Foxes for an alleged breach for the three seasons leading up to 2022-23 after they were charged in March.

Leicester appealed against the charge as they were in the English Football League (EFL) at the time it was issued and felt the Premier League had no jurisdiction, having been relegated in 2023, but the commission has ruled English football's top flight can continue pursuing them.

Leicester are appealing against the latest ruling.

Here's hoping Leicester bar stewards get:

- a very sizeable points deduction, - have a sheite season
- concede a tsunami wave of goals

and finish bottom.

Baz, just following on from that convo about Saints B situation and theirs vs Rodon, etc. I see Saints have now signed Ronnie Edwards from Posh for CB. He was someone I wanted us to sign. They've now got Harwood-Bellis, Bella-Kotchap and Edwards. Not too shabby that tbh.

Edwards maybe could've done with a year in the champo before EPL, but he's a talent nonetheless.

Interested to see how many goals they ship next season as that's one of the better CB lineups from a promoted club in recent years, imo.

Wrote this on Edwards a while back (for those interested) :

RONNIE EDWARDS - 21 - CB - Peterborough

With Posh missing out on promotion this season, there are a few players who can definitely make the step up to Champo level, with Edwards being one of them. The ball-playing CB has a commanding stature and brilliant positional sense whether for his defensive duties or receiving passes. Edwards is dominant in the air, but also a strong tackler and passer of the ball who bares similarities to John Stones, being he can do it all (albeit at a lower level) . The 21-year-old is a proper talent who I can't see staying in League 1 after this season's performances. A complete modern centre back who could excel given the opportunity to play at a higher level. It's believed Posh have slapped a £10m price tag on Edwards, but there's certainly room for negotiation given his contract is up in 2025 and Peterborough have now lost in the League 1 play offs.

Interesting post Dill, still think Saints will ship plenty and struggle

Bottom 5 in EPL next season

The 3 promoted teams, Forest and Brentford . in the R mix

Leicester deserve to be relegated imo

hope Bournemouth and Brighton involved too . if somewhat unlikely.

I agree with Baz on that, think they will still concede a lot. Edward’s is a decent CB but in my estimation he’ll need a lot better coach than Martin for him and his fellow players to survive in the Prem.

Following my other Long post can anyone who follows the youth or loans help me figure out if any of them might be on the edge of the first team as legitimate breakthroughs or backups next year.

Thinking of

Sonny Perkins (loan seemed underwhelming)
Harry Christy, Joe Snowdon, Luca Thomas (all the oldest of the youth who got offered new deals rather than released)
Diogo Monteiro (not heard much about him but seems to be Portugal U19 capt so can't be bad? )
Charlie Crew (maybe the next gem? )

Realistically only thinking that Monteiro and Crew have a real shot at backup roles next season but am I overrating that or underrating any of the others?

Burmuda, give your head a wobble and think before you post.

Leeds had the 5th youngest squad in the league,

They played over 8 game weeks within the season with the lowest average age that week.

We played

We had Gnonto, 20. Summerville, 22. Rutter, 22. Gray, 17/ 18, and 7 others under 25.

Average squad age of 24.2 years according to another website, the 3 teams who were promoted had older squad average ages so maybe not playing the youth would have got us promoted?

The squads with younger squads were,
Sunderland 16th
Blackburn 19th
Plymouth 21st
The only exception Hull, 7th but not the playoffs (like us)

Don’t tell me Daniel Farke doesn’t play young players.

What you should instead post is “Daniel Farke doesn’t play the young players you think he should” which makes me think your presumably a manger of a club somewhere better than Leeds united?

LAD playing cheat codes for the Champo. established top level £35 million GR . £40 million rated CS and £30 million rated WG is a given for any sane manager in Champo.

What Hooksie and others were referring to all season is DF refusal to give MJ ( and CC) any minutes along with his preposterous relunctance also to play the loan players any real game time

The 3 teams that got promoted did so from properly utilising tbeir squad, players coming on from bench and scoring and creating and keeping things fresh

#DF apologists for failure last season.

As far as I aware LAD we have the second youngest team in the Championship last season behind Sunderland, absolute garbage that Farke doesn’t prefer youth players, in fact it was probably our downfall towards the end of the season not to have a few more experienced heads on the pitch.
The fact that Joseph and Cresswell didn’t get starts was probably because they are not ready, certainly Joseph and I’m absolutely certain he will get more opportunities this season.
Farke’s sole objective is to get Leeds promoted at all costs, experimenting with youth players who may or may not be on the cusp of breaking through is not.

04 Jul 2024 15:26:14
Well DF forked up that promotion mission last season ' Champions elect ' OP . time will tell soon enough this season if he learns from his mistakes.

Agree1 0Disagree

04 Jul 2024 15:32:47
Farke himself said that we probably needed more experienced heads on the pitch, given the preponderance of younger less experienced players already out there. The answer to that was not to play Joseph and Cresswell more.

I would agree however that at various points in the season Joseph should have been given more minutes in rotation (as with some more experienced players like Anthony and Roberts) both to utilise their quality and to give others more of a rest.

Absolutely smack on their LAD! No ifs, buts, maybes or anything. Nowt to discuss on that subject, just because some have it in their head that some other ones should have played.

04 Jul 2024 17:40:55
I’m not having it that the players ran out of gas, rotation etc, very fine margins in football these days and if the mental part is not 100% you will not win.
Inexperience and not enough belief proved our downfall.

DF admitted our squad was tired and knackered by the end of the year but he never rested then or gave the youth a chance.

Joseph out two goals past Chelsea on their home turf, yet didn't get a start. When he was brought on, Summerville/ James/ Rutter were usually taken off. Joseph, cresswell, crew, shackleton, Geldhardt, none of these were given a chance on the pitch with some of the A squad.

Farkes reluctance to play subs was clear as day during the final. Down 1-0 with nothing to lose and everything to play for, he brought on attacking defenders and left the donkey attacker on the pitch.

Farke hasn't proved anything other than he was in charge when Leeds broke some unbeaten run records, he's a stubborn man and he doesn't know how to use subs.

I think He and Southgate went to the same football manager school.

Outs - now guaranteed it seems.

Dallas (free, thank you)
Cooper (free, great service)
Ayling (free, thanks Bill)
Archie let's say £25m+
Roca (£3.8m)
Drameh (free + tribunal)
Lewis Bate (free - would have thought he was on 5k a weekish)
Koch (free)
Poveda (like Bate a few K a week wages removed)
Anthony (end of loan, not likely permanent)
Roberts (end of loan, not likely permanent)

Outs we MIGHT or hope to do

Llorente (100% for some sort of fee - judging by rejecting a Betis bid, we're not just taking the first offer on the table, good to see. A Serie A starter there will be a market of sorts for him)

Wober (Bundesliga starter - chance to retain if he is keen to play - would make the squad better if he did, otherwise value is there to recoup his around £12m transfer fee) .

Kristensen (seems like an albatross contract for now might end up with us, lucky if someone takes his wages on for free on loan tbh) .

Greenwood (Middlesbrough not taking up his 1.5m option sounds bonkers. Appreciate his second half of the season wasn't as good as stellar first for them but still) . If we sold one of Summerville or Gnonto, I'd be interested in retaining him for his set pieces, as the backup attacker. If not we get a bit more than that 1.5m (thinking 4m minimum after his numbers 5G 3A last season. )

Aside from Archie not many of these ended up being that useful last season. if you add up the contribution of Ayling, Cooper, Anthony and Roberts combined you probably have one starter there.

which means all of the wages off the books and after the PSR accounting we must have some solid flexibility. Granted we have Aaronson (staying) , Kristensen (hopefully leaving) , Wober (probably leaving) and Llorente (likely leaving) and Greenwood (? ) to add in at least in the short term.

In a new financial season we will have decent options if we have satisfied the old accounting with selling Archie (we had better! )

I think a critical issue for me is that objectively none of last season's loans apart from Rodon worked really.

Spence was a disaster, Anthony had moments but was an underwhelming backup on the whole, Roberts scored one really important goal at the time but was hurt a fair deal. If even one of these had turned into the key starter we hoped for that would have seen us up.

We need to get a goalie to put pressure on mes because he knows there is no one to challenge him currently and considering his recent record that's a bad state of affairs kk and kd are not up to it why we bought darlow last year still confuses me I know it was only 700k but he in my humble opinion was a complete waste of cash.

Agree2 0Disagree

04 Jul 2024 11:23:46
I agree - darlow is no better than Klaesson for backup (Klaesson did fine in the prem tbh from that Wolves game after Meslier got hit by Jimenez) . Darlow wages will not be cheap either. I'd say in the champ Klaesson is a fair backup though if we can move Darlow's unnecessary wages. A decent Champ backup should be on around 5K a week and then the third choice is the academy keeper. If the backup gets injured you get an emergency loan in.

His low centre of gravity is beneficial for him bumping tackles when he's dribbling and with balls to feet he backs into defenders and can shield the ball fairly well from what I've seen. Don't expect him to be going shoulder to shoulder with people and coming off best, though.

It's more that he uses his body well.
